The Strong To Bear The Weak ( Romans 15:1-2 )

We then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves.

Let every one of us please his neighbour for his good to edification.

Romans 15:1-2

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I believe brothers and sisters we can clearly gather from the text here this isn't saying take care of ourselves and get around to our brothers and sisters later. No instead clearly the Apostle Paul is addressing those who are strong in the faith to help their weaker brethren. You know it really is amazing when you think about it the Christian life is counter-culture. Granted when people hear that word they would say whoa no that doesn't sound right, but the truth is, it is quite fitting. Think about it my friends. In our culture no matter how many people you see doing some good things I'm sure if you really weigh things out and look behind it you will find the lack of pure motive and true goodness. I know people may find what I say quite harsh and a bit hard to take in, but it is true. In human nature we are not good people. We seek to please ourselves even in doing good things. Think about before you met Christ and you did something good didn't want to receive recognition for it. Now your thinking there is nothing wrong in that. Right there that good act has become so consumed with pride and you don't even see it.

The beauty is when we become a Christian things do change. Do ever notice you do something and someone tells you thank you and you think why did they thank me? See that my friends that is humility and there shows a pure motive. Not doing to receive recognition, but purely to help that individual. Have you noticed that in your walk with Christ an urge to help your brothers and sisters? Isn't it beautiful ? Now friends let me make mention of this, just because your a believer doesn't mean that thing called pride can't rise up. Instead what I urge you is to be on the look and when you seek to help your weaker brother or sister in faith do check your heart/motive. Make sure you approach with purity of wanting to help them. We should want to help and feel compelled to help them as a stronger brother or sister in the faith. This is used as verse two indicates edifies the body of Christ.

Brothers and sisters I encourage you with this as we all need help from time to time. As I've told other brothers and sisters there is not a point you get in your walk where "you've made it", we all need one another. Remember we are family, for as it is written all who do the will of the Father are His family ( Matthew 12:50 ). So if you see or know of a sister or brother who is struggling extend brotherly love to them. Were not lone wolfs, we are in this together and we need to work as a body works together. The hand hates not his legs nor his eye, but instead they work in unity so as to accomplish the goals needed to function as a body.

Good night and God bless,
