Christ's Grace Is Sufficient ( 2 Corinthians 12:9-10 )

And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.

2 Corinthians 12:9-10

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Let me first say when the Apostle Paul wrote this he had inquired of the Lord to remove some thorn( 2 Corinthians 12:7-8 ). What this thorn exactly was I'm not sure and I've read where some have thought it to be medical conditions. Whatever the case Jesus spoke to him and said His grace was sufficient and that strength is made perfect in weakness. Awesome isn't to know that His grace is sufficient. To be sufficient is enough, but more than that it covers all. Something God spoke to me that really touched my heart was in the area of relationships. He pointed out to me that no one can complete me, only He can do that, but that the day I do get married the women I marry will compliment me. He showed me that my former thoughts of how love worked were wrong. For that I am grateful and in that I am thankful His grace is sufficient for every need.

What I love in that verse is how Paul wrote how Christ spoke to him saying in my strength is made perfect in weakness. When we are weak we realize we can't do it on our own and we need Him. It's humility and for me I've found great strength in knowing He gets me through the storms of life and is the source of my joy. I am so thankful for God shutting up the prideful man I was. Now I'm sure some who knew me before would say no way, he's too shy. Friends just because a person is shy doesn't mean he or she can't be shy. For too many years of my life I lived for myself and that in itself showed pride in self. So my encouragement to those out there is if this is something your struggling with, ask God to help you.

Now look at the next verse I take pleasure in infirmities, reproaches, in necessities, persecutions and distresses for Christ's sake for when I'm weak I am strong. See this is something I've mentioned before and said last night in when being Christian isn't taking the easy road. You know sadly there are pulpits preaching choose Jesus and life gets easy. Read the gospels and Acts, doesn't sound easy does it. Like I stated last night Christ stated to those who will follow Him will deny themselves, take up their cross and follow Him. When you do, you will take joy such as Paul did. Despite being afflicted he took pleasure for he did it for Christ.

You know for me personally I've never been beaten or stoned, but through my afflictions I've learned to find joy. I've found joy in Him alone. Like I spoke last night when my grandmother was in the hospital I found my joy alone in God. I know some people get through days on caffeine, candy, or adrenaline...I get by on God. I know everyday that I make it through tough days or long days it is because His right hand upholding me. I know that when I've been up late and wake up refreshed it is because I found rest in Him alone. People may find me crazy or some may call me piteous. I prefer dependent on Jesus Christ and that His grace is sufficient.

So friends when your weak remember you are strong through Him who is our source of strength. Remember as it is written I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me( Philippians 4:13 ).

Praise Shall Always Be On My Lips ( Psalm 34:1 )

I will bless the LORD at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth.

Psalm 34:1

--------------------------
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I love this verse and I'm sure some would say how can someone do this? How can you always praise when life isn't always as they say, a walk in the park or sunshine and lollipops. Well, Jesus never said follow me and life will be easy. No what He did say was deny yourself, take up your cross and follow me( Mark 8:34 ). So going back to the verse how do we bless the Lord at all times? Well, I can tell you personally from mine own life I've learned to bless His name through storms just for who He is. To a lot of people that sounds crazy, but to me and any other believer it makes sense. For example back in November of last year my grandmother was very ill and we(my family and I) really felt we were going to lose her. Despite how bad things looked I could still find a reason to bless God. I praised Him for the fact He had given me many years with her and I trusted in the fact that He was taking care of her. What amazed me through it was how He strengthened my faith through it. Through this trial I grew closer to God.

I believe the reason people find it hard to praise God is they are too busy focusing on the hard times. They are worried about the situation and how they can fix it. Instead of worrying about what your going through take it to Him in prayer, pour out your heart before Him( Psalm 62:8 ). All the worrying your going to do isn't going to solve it. Instead hand it over to Him. Granted His solution may not be the answer we always want to hear, but it is the one we need to hear. Sometimes we go through trials to strengthen us. Think about it this way if we learn to praise God in the storm, how much louder can we praise Him in the sun?

Friends, brothers and sisters I encourage continue to have His praises on your lips as the Psalmist writes for truly He is worthy of our praise. Continue sharing the gospel as the year moves on. Don't be ashamed of it, for it holds the power of salvation( Romans 1:16 ).

Focus On Jesus Christ! ( Matthew 14:25:-31)

And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea.

And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear.

But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid.

And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water.

And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus.

But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me.

And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?

Matthew 14:25-31

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This story recently came to mind and I believe it was God's way of encouragement to me and I just have to share it. I wanted to tell a brother or sister in Christ about this in person, but didn't get to. This while such a familiar story is a favorite of mine. Despite how it is only a few verses, there is so much in it. For one you see how Peter just jumped out of the boat and went to Jesus. He didn't think in his mind that he was a man not meant to walk on water. Instead he focused on Jesus alone. Peter saw his master and the one he loved and wanted to be with Him.

Another thing I see in this story was what happened shortly after he got out there. He looked around and saw the wind, the water and then became afraid. Instead of being focus on Jesus he became focused on his circumstance. How many times do we do that? How many times do we look at what we are going through and say why me? Instead of looking around at the circumstance we need to look to our our redeemer, who is ever present in any trouble we may be facing. He is not far off, just watching us go through trouble. As it is written if he is for us then who can be against us?( Romans 8:31 ).

Another thing I see in it is love. The love you see is how Jesus did not let Peter sink. Despite his lack of faith, he loved him. The disciples, they were not perfect no more than any of us were. What made them who they were was they lived for the one they loved. They loved God with all their hearts, with all their strength, and with all their soul. This cost them their lives, but they knew this and were willing to do it for His name sake.

What amazes and puts me in awe is how God uses everyday people. You can see this when read His Word. Amazing to know that even someone like me, who I think is just John can be used. The thing is we must focus on Christ and Christ alone. Notice how when Peter was focused on Jesus he was walking on the water and didn't see the wind. He didn't realize he wasn't supposed to be doing that. All he thought about was Jesus. The same should be applied to our lives. When we witness to someone don't worry about the words or if you will offend them. Instead focus on Christ and rely on what He will give you. Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding( Proverbs 3:5 ). Friends I'm offering this encouragement to all my brothers and sisters.

Wait On The Lord ( Psalm 27:14 )

Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.

Psalm 27:14

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Wait, wow as a culture that is something we don't like to hear. The thing is when it comes to any situation whether we are going through a storm or asking God about where He wants us to work in a ministry we should wait on Him. No matter what our mind or what logic may tell us, we must wait on the Lord. Here David also writes in this same verse be of good courage. To me this just makes sense. Why not be of good courage for we have God on our side. When it comes to making any decision we know that in waiting on God first hand that we have waited for His timing. Then in His providence when He reveals the time we will have the assurance to have this courage to make the choice and decision He has revealed to us. In addition to us be of good courage He will strengthen our heart. He will do this by confirming that this is His will through the Holy Spirit. Awesome isn't that when you seek God's face, wait on Him, that in His time He will lead you to a decision and not only that, but confirm it.

So, friends, brothers and sisters in Christ I encourage you if there is something you desire seek the Lord. Seek His counsel and wait on Him. Truly blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord and puts his hope in Him( Jeremiah 17:7 ). Waiting isn't easy, just ask me I know, but God is faithful( 1 Corinthians 1:9 ). Just because we can't see how God is going to work something out doesn't mean He won't, instead we just need to just trust Him. As it says in this, Wait on the Lord, Be of good courage. Friends I can tell you I believe I will be a father and husband one day. When I don't know, but I trust in the Lord alone on this. Knowing that He knows my deepest needs now and will meet that need when the time is right, not my time, His perfect time.

For anyone reading this tonight who has not accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior I invite you to do so. Cast all your worries, doubts, and fears at His feet, the feet of mercy for He cares for you( 1 Peter 5:7 ). Repent of your old ways, your sins and find your identity in Jesus Christ ( 2 Corinthians 5:17 ). Don't let your past or not being perfect get in the way( Psalm 103:12, Romans 3:23 ). Instead cast yourself upon His mercy( Luke 18:13 ). Remember He is waiting on you with arms wide open( John 3:16 ). In those arms you will find love( John 15:13 ), mercy( Romans 5:6-8 ), forgiveness( 1 John 1:9 ), and a grace that is sufficient( 2 Corinthians 12:9 ). Will you choose Him ? Will you let Him set you free from the bonds of sin( John 8:36 ) ? This is a matter of life and death, life and death eternal( John 3:18 ). Don't wait( Matthew 24:36 )!

Examine Me & Prove Me God ( Psalm 26:2 )

Examine me, O LORD, and prove me; try my reins and my heart.

Psalms 26:2

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

To examine by Webster dictionary is to inspect closely. Then the next word is prove, is to test. So David is asking to both have himself inspected closely and to be tested. Friends as Christians we should continually ask God to examine us and to prove. Not to see if we are perfect for we know that none us would meet that standard, but instead to see where we are at in our walk with Him. See what in our lives needs work. You know one of many things I've learned is you never get to a point with God that you stop learning or don't need improvement. As the word prove means, to test, God will test us to see if He is the center of our lives. Think about the story of Abraham and his son Issac. The Lord asked Him to sacrifice his son. The Lord was testing Abraham to see who Abraham would put first God or Issac? The blessing or the provider?

Something that comes to mind in proving us God will use trials to build our faith. These trials will make us step outside our comfort zone and rely on Him alone. Through this we are refine and grow stronger in our through Him. Remember as it is written the trying of our faith works patience( James 1:3 ). Through building this patience we learn that while we don't understand the situation we understand that what God said will come to pass in His time.

You know one thing looking back in my life I can see how very impatient I was. I never took time in the sense I wanted what I needed now and didn't care about others. Now instead I think of others before myself thinking. Remembering that a servant attitude is one of humility and that ultimately I am not here to please me,but to please God and God alone( Galatians 1:10 ). In fact I've found that in prayer I ask God to examine my heart and how acted through the day. Now granted I'm not perfect, but I do desire to be Christ like. Through asking Him to examine us we allow Him to show us areas where we need work. Remember none us are and none of will be this side of heaven, but this give us no excuse to sin willfully( Romans 6:1-2 ). When you ask God to examine you and He shows you an area you need work on. Don't argue and say God I'm fine. Instead submit to His will and realize He knows our deepest needs. Realize that by Him showing you these areas He desires the best for you.

Friends I encourage you to pour out your heart before God. Ask Him to examine and prove you. Let this not be just monthly or yearly, but instead I encourage it to be daily. I'm encourage myself by what the Apostle Paul wrote in scripture, I die daily( 1 Corinthians 15:31 ).

For anyone reading this tonight who has not accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and personal Savior I invite you to do so. Ask Him into your heart and admit your a sinner in need of His forgiveness. Be real with Him and cast all your worries, doubts, and fears at His feet, the feet of mercy for He cares for you( 1 Peter 5:7 ). Repent of your old ways, your sins and find your identity in Jesus Christ( 2 Corinthians 5:17 ). Don't let your past or not being perfect get in the way( Psalm 103:12, Romans 3:23 ). Instead cast yourself upon His mercy( Luke 18:13 ). Remember He is waiting on you with arms wide open( John 3:16 ). Keeping His Commandments Are A Joy ( 1 John 5:3 )

For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.

1 John 5:3

--------------------------
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As I've said before serving God is loving obedience. Knowing that to obey Him is to love Him and to love Him. To me it just makes sense and I believe to any believer it does as well. That knowing where He has brought us from and what He has done for us. Beyond that just who He is, is sufficient enough for us. Notice in the end of this verse it says His commandments are not grievous. To us who love Him they aren't, in fact to do as He commands is what we seek to do. As it is written we are not to conform ourselves to this world, but to be renewed of mind and spirit so that we may know the perfect will of God( Romans 12:2 ). Another words friends since God has began a supernatural work in our lives where He has brought us from death, spiritual death to life( John 5:24 ) we no longer think the same way. Not only do we not think the same, but our entire life begins changing. Friends I can tell you personally how since He saved me that I don't look or think the same way. Instead of applying the things in my life to the movies or books, I apply His Word in all areas of my life. This means everything from school, work, at home and even how I conduct myself at church and church functions.

Remember if we are to witness to those who are lost we must first get right our own lives. I know for me God really spent the first year when He drew me to Him fixing me up and healing me. Not to mention I had areas where I had spiritual battles, but as I drew nigh to Him, He drew nigh to me and was with me every step of the way and gave me strength( Philippians 4:13 ) to fight the giants of my life. Now does this mean all the battles are over? No, but He has prepared me for the future fights. We were promised an easy road, for the easy road leads to destruction( Matthew 7:13-14 ).

Keep His commandments. Now granted you make mistake, as it written all have fallen short of the glory of God( Romans 3:23 ), but if you confess your sins He is faithful and just to forgive them and to cleanse you from all unrighteousness( 1 John 1:9 ). Be encouraged as we continue through 2009. Continue serving Him in loving obedience, as it is your reasonable service( Romans 12:1 ).

Trust In Him Always & Pour Our Your Heart Before Him( Psalm 62:8 )

Trust in him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us. Selah.

Psalm 62:8

--------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You know this is one area God has really worked hard in me. This I found so awesomely humble as it showed me just how far the depth of His love extends. See while we are all human and we all have fallen short of His glory, we all have areas where we are weaker than others and God knows that. The awesome thing is God can and will strengthen us. I love how David puts its trust in Him at all times ye people. Friends we must and should certainly trust God in all situations no matter how things look. Like I've recently spoke about with my grandmother being ill. It does hurt seeing her not just as she once was, but I know God is still God. I know that He is still on the throne and that He is meeting her every need. Not only that, but He is providing me and my family comfort and peace throughout my day. I even know that when the time comes and she passes that He will be with us then to provide us with comfort then. The reason I know this is because He is faithful( Deuteronomy 7:9,1 Corinthians 1:9 ) and He promised to be close to those of broken heart( Psalm 34:18 ).

In addition David continues by saying pour out your heart before Him. Friends when you go to prayer to God tell Him all that is on your heart. Tell Him all your thankful for, tell Him your troubles. If you need to ask forgiveness ask Him. Remember just because you got saved, doesn't mean you won't sin. Remember as it written all have fallen short of the glory of God( Romans 3:23 ). God knows that through our daily lives we will make errors, but if you come to God and pour your heart before Him in repentance He is just to forgive you and cleanse you from all unrighteousness( 1 John 1:9 ). Now in no way does this give us a license to sin, but instead calls us to live lives according to His Word. I know I'm not perfect, but I seek to live as He wants me to live. I may not get it right, but I will continue to run the race with patience in the hope of seeing Jesus one day in paradise.

Then in the last part David wrote how God is our refuge. Wow, what a wonderful reference especially for me right now. As some of my close brothers and sisters in Christ know I am going through a storm and those who read the devotionals. With my grandmother going through different health issues it has been hard on me. I stay strong for the most, but I know the strength is not my own( Philippians 4:13 ). It is awesome to know that when life's storms come along we have someone to go to and that is God. I know personally I have found rest in Him as this storm goes on. The thing that amazes me is how God has turned this storm in my life as way for me to grow closer to Him. In it I've come to trust Him more than I already did. What the enemy tried to use to destroy God used for good( Romans 8:28 ).

So friends I encourage you to trust God as I have at all times. No matter how dark the storm clouds look remember we have a Rock to hold onto that is stronger. I know I've probably mentioned this song a couple of times, but going through this storm this song comes to mind, " I Still Believe" by Jeremy Camp. Despite the storm I'm in I still believe in His faithfulness and in His Word. I know that He has everything in control. So friends, brothers and sisters trust in Him always, and pour out your heart before Him.

I encourage you to do so. This is the single greatest decision you will ever make. It is matter of life and death, life and death eternal( John 3:18 ). Don't wait, make the choice tonight( Matthew 24:36 )!

Don't Give Alms As The Hypocrites Do ( Matthew 6:1-4 )

Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven.

Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth:

That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly.

Matthew 6:1-4

--------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here in part of the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus was addressing the issue of giving alms or another words giving to those in need such as charity. True giving/ charity is not done with an announcement as with trumpets or made known, but instead are done anonymous. The very point Jesus was getting across was that men like the pharisees were openly letting people knowing what they were doing for the poor so they could get recognition. They were so caught up in getting the credit now. They wanted to earn the merit of men and had already forgotten their first love, God.

You ever met anyone like this they make sure everyone knows it was them that did this or that for someone. Instead of just doing it. Remember as the scripture says do all things heartily unto God( Colossians 3:23 ). Sad isn't how people can take a good act, but do it with the wrong intent and use the wrong means.

What is so awesome is that when we do this things with the right intent and by the right means God will reward us openly. Awesome isn't to know that for being obedient God rewards us. I can tell you personally how I've received blessing from being obedient to God and applying His Word to my life. Now in no way am I perfect, but I've found that day by day I have asked Him to continue to remove anything that is not good according to His Word. I ask Him to try my heart and to refine me.

So friends I encourage you when the need in your heart to give those in need, don't be as a hypocrite. Instead follow the example that our Savior taught us. Reminding us that doing it in public for others eyes would get our reward now. Instead do in secret so that God, our heavenly Father will reward us openly. Remember who are pleasing men or God ( Galatians 1:10 )?

For anyone reading this tonight who has not accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and personal Savior I invite you to do so. Ask Him into your heart and admit your a sinner in need of His forgiveness. Be real with Him and cast all your worries, doubts, and fears at His feet, the feet of mercy for He cares for you( 1 Peter 5:7 ). Repent of your old ways, your sins, and find your identity in Jesus Christ( 2 Corinthians 5:17 ). Don't let your past or not being perfect get in the way( Psalm 103:12, Romans 3:23 ). There Is None Righteous ( Romans 3:10 )

As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:

Romans 3:10

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What a shocker this must have been to some people when the Apostle Paul spoke this or when they received this letter. They must have thought what how can this be I do all these good things so I must be righteous. The problem is many people then like even now get righteous and self righteous mixed up. Our righteousness is like filthy rags( Isaiah 64:6 ) before the Lord due to iniquity we are born into and the fact that we are imperfect. We only are declared righteous through Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior( Romans 5:17 ). You know when I think about this verse I think about how self righteous I used to be. Before I came to know the Lord as my Savior, I lived a double life. Sad to say I might as well been to some degree a pharisee. I lived by my so called "moral laws" ,but lived however made me feel good. In a sense like the pharisee I figured sense I hadn't killed anyone or broken any of the ten commandments in "my book" I was ok.

The thing was friends this life was tearing me up and I didn't even realize it at that time. It wasn't until 2007 that God drew me to Him and showed me who I was through His law that I was guilty just as all men are before God. Then He gave me hope through His son that by trusting in Him. On the night I gave my life to Christ I now can look back and see how as it is written that all who call upon the Lord shall be saved( Romans 10:13 ).

One thing I've noticed now looking back is how prideful I used to be. On top of that it was in the wrong things. Now I can say the only thing I boast in, is that God saved me and that everything I am is because He is mighty to save. On tuesday night at Vertical a youth outreach ministry I attend occasionally I had the opportunity to share a testimony. I thank God that I didn't hold back. Cause now I know it felt great to share it, not just to talk, but to glorify God. Cause I am absolutely humbled in how far He has brought me in my walk with Him. I know the past couple months of my grandmother being in and out of hospital have been trying and with her health is always a trial. The very fact I am able to go on day to with joy is because of He who lives in me.

A song that is actually playing and a favorite of mine is " I Still Believe" by Jeremy Camp. Through the storm I'm continuing to go through I still believe in His faithfulness knowing He is taking care of her, knowing His Word declares that I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me( Philippians 4:13 ).

Friends I encourage to remember that it is not about you, it is about Him. Remember if this world hates you, remember it hated Him first and only hates you for His name sake( John 15:18-19 ). Don't lose heart when they treat you wrong, but instead show them the love of Christ. Remember as it is written we would be known this way by loving one another ( John 13:35 ).

Instead cast yourself upon His mercy Luke 18:13 ). Will you choose Him? Will you let Him set you free from the bonds of sin( John 8:36 ) ? I encourage you to do so. This is the single greatest choice you will ever make. It is matter of life and death, life and death eternal( John 3:18 ). Don't wait, make the choice( Matthew 24:36 )!

There is None That Understand Or Seek God ( Romans 3:11 )

There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God.

Romans 3:11

--------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

When I first read this verse I must say at first look I thought what? How can this be? Then with much insight from God I understood. On our own we would neither understand or seek Him. Now I'm not saying we completely understand Him as there are just things we won't understand due to a simple fact God is infinite and we are finite. First I will start with where the Apostle Paul write in this verse that none understandeth. I know personally I have gone through trials in my walk with Christ that at first glance and while going through them they didn't make sense. If I thought with my own natural mind in how things went it wouldn't make sense. In fact I wouldn't be confounded and scratching my head. Of course I no longer rely on my understanding, but instead rely on His knowledge through His Word( Proverbs 3:5-6 ). I know that in trusting in Him completely that He will straighten the way in all situations and despite what I see in my path He knows just how to lead me through.

At first when I came to know Jesus as Lord and Savior this was hard to do, but day by day my faith grew as He showed me that He was with me every of the way. Now a verse comes to mind when life begins to get rough and that is the just shall live by faith( Habakkuk 2:4 ). The last couple of months have been very tough and hard to understand, but truly I have had to lean completely on God alone. Between waiting to drive, my grandmother being in and out of the hospital, and other family members being sick it has been tough. Now I can tell you all that through it all, the only reason I made it was because my redeemer lives.

The next part of the verse goes none seek after God. Now I'm sure reading this some may say what? I don't get this. Truly on your own before coming to know God it was not you sought Him. The truth of the matter was it was Him drawing you to Him. Do you ever think about the night you gave your heart to the Lord? What was it that drew you to make that decision? What was it that made you think about your life ?

I know for me reflecting now while the night I gave my life to Christ I went to a lock in. That night I was looking for something, but instead someone found me. That night God found me. God convicted my heart and began a work in me. I didn't know it that night, but God was drawing me to Him. He had a reason for me to be there. He knew I was spiritually dead and needed Him. That night I passed from death unto life( John 5:24 ). Now I seek Him because I have a desire in my heart from Him.

So friends I encourage you to get to know God. Develop an intimate relationship with Him. Share your worries and fears with Him for He does care for you( 1 Peter 5:7 ). Study His Word and get deep. Remember we have an adversary out there look to devour us so we need to be ready( 1 Peter 5:8 ). God has give us a powerful weapon, His Word.

I encourage you to do so. This is the single greatest choice you will ever make. It is matter of life and death, life and death eternal( John 3:18 ). Don't wait, make the choice tonight( Matthew 24:36 )!

Take All Things Into Prayer ( Philippians 4:6 )

Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

Philippians 4:6
--------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I love this verse course I could say many times over when I do devotional as I have several verses that have touched my life personally. The Word of God is still very applicable to our lives today just as it was then. As you see the Apostle Paul wrote to be careful in all things and to bring them to God in prayer. Another words friends it doesn't matter how big or how small it is take it to the Lord in prayer. In some people's life something little may come up and they may say hey it's nothing big so who cares. The truth of the matter is God does care. The scripture says to cast our cares upon Him for He cares for us( 1 Peter 5:7 ). It doesn't specify the type or when, it just says to cast them upon Him for He cares. Remember we serve the very author of love for God is love( 1 John 4:8 ).

Instead they try and handle the situation thinking hey its small I can handle it. Before long the small problem grows and then they are crying out to God saying why God why. They are asking the right question of course they are usually asking Him why is happening to them instead of why didn't I seek you first. God will never get mad if we come to Him about little issues. Remember God desires a deep intimate relationship with you. He desires those who seek Him. Friends when you make your requests known to God, ask believing He will answer your prayers( Matthew 21:22 ).

In addition you notice it says with thanksgiving. This means thankful .So when we bring these request to God not only should be all things to Him, but we should thank Him. Thank Him, knowing that He has answered your prayer. Remember God knows our deepest need. Despite how things may seem at the time God has everything in control.

Friends I encourage you as walk with God to tell Him about your day. Let Him know about all that troubles, big and small. Believe me He loves you( John 3:16 ) and He will meet your every need, just seek Him first( Matthew 6:33 ). Take the time to get to know the Master. Get deep in His Word and grow in Him. Don't conform yourself to this world, but instead identify yourself with the standard, Jesus Christ.

For anyone reading this tonight who has not accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and personal Savior I invite you to do so. Ask Him into your heart and admit your a sinner in need of His forgiveness. For there is no other name under heaven which a person can be saved by. Remember He is waiting on you with arms wide open(John 3:16 ). In those arms you will find love( John 15:13 ), mercy( Romans 5:6-8 ), forgiveness( 1 John 1:9 ), and a grace that is sufficient( 2 Corinthians 12:9 ). Will you choose Him? Will you let Him set you free from the bonds of sin( John 8:36 ) ? I encourage you to do so. This is the single greatest choice. It is a matter of life and death, life and death eternal( John 3:18 ). Don't wait, make the choice tonight( Matthew 24:36 )!

Who Are You Pleasing ? ( Galatians 1:10 )

For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.

Galatians 1:10
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

One thing people don't realize is they are serving others. How are they doing this? They are allowing others direct their lives in who they are and what they do. Friends as Christians we have one to please and that one is the living God. If we please any other than as the Apostle Paul wrote we should not be the servants of Christ.
How can claim to love Jesus Christ, but seek to please anyone else above Him ?

Now I'm not encouraging any child to rebel against their parents or employee to go against the rules of the company. What I am saying is that our ultimate goal is in anything we do is to please God. This applies in all areas from home to work and even at school. For me I look back in my past life before coming to know Christ as Lord and Savior and I can clearly see who I sought to please. In addition to seeking to please other people my life had became one of self absorption. I became all about what I needed and thought life was all about me. Praise God for opening my eyes. He revealed to me how proud and arrogant I was. Truly He set me free( John 8:36 ) and through Him I became a new creation( 2 Corinthians 5:17 ).

Another thing that comes to mind when thinking of this verse is how people wanna do good things, but have the wrong motivates. This goes right along cause if our intent is to get attention by people for doing some good act instead of doing it for the glory of God. As Christians everything we do in our lives should be to bring glory to God. When you wash dishes wash them so that it brings His name the most glory. When you go to work do the best job so that in doing your best it will bring His name glory. I know tasks like that sound silly, but we should do all things heartily to the Lord( Colossians 3:23 ). Believe it or not through our lives we can impact others who do not know Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Remember we are to be a light to this world( Matthew 5:16 ). Be a living testimony. Show them Christ by applying His Word to your life( 1 Corinthians 9:14 ).

Friends be encouraged daily through His Word. Don't rely on self help books, we have the greatest source of help, the Bible. In it has all the answers we will ever need all we need to do is just open it up and let God speak to us. How do we do this? Get to know Him? Get deep in His Word. Study His Word daily, feast on it. As it is written man can not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from God's mouth( Deuteronomy 8:3 ). As I spoke on the other night desire for God as the deer pants for the water in the brook( Psalm 42:1 ).

I encourage you to do so. This is the single greatest choice you will ever make. It is a matter of life and death, life and death eternal( John 3:18 ).
Don't wait, make the choice tonight( Matthew 24:36 )!

My Soul Panteth After Thee ( Psalm 42:1 )

As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God.

Psalm 42:1

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As the psalmist wrote he, he compared his desire for God as the way a deer desire the water in a brook. Do you have it? Do you desire God? Do you have a thirst for His Word? You know before coming to know Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior I couldn't imagine having this desire. The reason why is because I cared more about me and thought this life was about me. When God opened up my eyes and showed me how selfish I was and how it wasn't about me and that it was about Him. It was about how He died for me so that I could live more abundantly that I began living so much more. When I began to really live I began to thirst for Him and His Word. Friends I just can't get enough of it. In His Word we can find comfort, joy, and peace. In it we can find the answers to all of life's answers.

For so much of my life I ran to so many outlets to solve my problems and all it left me was empty or more problems. Now when I have a problem I take it to only place where I find hope and that is in God. I know that only He can solve my problems big and small. Notice I said both big and small. In most cases people come to God for the big things, but friends we should bring God all things for He does care. The scripture clearly says to cast all your cares upon Him for He cares( 1 Peter 5:7 ).

Something I've noticed as I continue walking with God is my desire to want to know Him more. Do you wake up seeking Him? Do you go to bed thinking about Him ? I encourage you brothers and sisters to desire Him as David writes in this verse. Have a thirst for Him and His Word. Seek Him daily through prayer and in His Word.

Friends I encourage you get to know God. Develop an intimate relationship with God. Think about it, if He sent His son to die for your sins, don't you deserve to give Him your all. Is it not your reasonable service( Romans 12:1 )? Take time I promise the more you seek Him, the more you will find Him.

For any reading this tonight who has not accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and personal Savior I invite you to do so. Ask Him into your heart and admit your a sinner in need of His forgiveness. Be real with Him and cast all your worries, doubts, and fears at His fears at His feet, the feet of mercy for He cares for you( 1 Peter 5:7 ). This is the single greatest choice you will ever make. It is a matter of life and death, life and death eternal( John 3:18 ). Don't wait, make the choice tonight( Matthew 24:36 )!
