Rejoice To The Lord Evermore ( 1 Thessalonians 5:16 )

Rejoice evermore.

1 Thessalonians 5:16

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Around the world tonight at midnight everyone will be celebrating another year. This verse came to mind and how we have another year coming up to share the gospel. We have new year approaching where we have the opportunity to tell someone about Jesus Christ and how He died for them to give them the most precious gift of salvation. There are many ways to share the gospel. You can hand out gospel tracts, one on one witnessing, taking part in a youth ministry, helping at your church, finding a soup kitchen to help with and my personal favorite being a living testimony. The example that I always tell people about and always comes to mind is Stephen the first Christian martyr. I believe his very living the Christian life till his death had an impact on the Apostle Paul's life. Friends I know with the way the world seems to be going and how things are it can get discouraging, but hold fast in the faith and fight the good fight( 1 Timothy 6:12 ).

For anyone reading this tonight who has not accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and personal Savior I invite you to do so. Ask Him into your heart and admit your a sinner in need of His forgiveness. Be real with Him and cast all your worries, doubts, and fears at His feet, the feet of mercy for He cares for you( 1 Peter 5:7 ). Repent of your old ways and find your identity in Jesus Christ( 2 Corinthians 5:17 ). Don't let your past or not being perfect get in the way( Psalm 103:12, Romans 3:23 ). Instead cast yourself upon His mercy( Luke 18:13 ). Remember He is waiting on you with arms wide open( John 3:16 ). In those arms you will find love( John 15:13 ), mercy( Romans 5:6-8 ), forgiveness( 1 John 1:9 ), and a grace that is sufficient( 2 Corinthians 12:9 ). Will you choose Him? Will you let Him set you free from the bonds of sin( John 8:36 ) ? I encourage you to do so. This is the single greatest choice you will ever make. It is a matter of life and death, life and death eternal( John 3:18 ). Don't wait, make the choice tonight ( Matthew 24:36 ) !

Nothing Shall Separate Us From His Love ( Romans 8:35-39 )

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?

As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.

Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.

For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,

Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 8:35-39

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Awesome isn't is to say with all boldness we are more than conquerors through Him that loved us. You know who that Him is, that is Jesus Chris our Lord and Savior. No matter how tough the battle you may be going through remember the war has already been won. Over two thousand years ago on Calvary Jesus Christ did that for us so that we can claim victory and receive salvation. You know some people think and have this idea that Christians have an easy life well just in case anyone does I'm here to inform that's wrong. In fact in the sermon on the mount Jesus made it clear that the Christian life wasn't easy, but it was the way to live( Matthew 7:14 ).

Then as I read the last two verses about how nothing not angels, not heights, depths, death, life, present, or anything can separate us from God's love. Isn't that awesome to know that His love reaches so far. You know some people get to point in their life and don't think God can forgive them or that they have done something so wrong how can they ever be used by God. I'm here to let you know the Apostle Paul before becoming the Apostle to the gentiles was killing Christians. So yes God can use anyone and all a person needs to do is come to God with a heart wide open, asking God clean them out and fill them anew( Romans 12:2 ).

For anyone reading this tonight who has not accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and personal Savior I invite you to do so. Ask Him into your heart and admit your sinner in need of His forgiveness. Be real with Him and cast all your worries, doubts, and fears at His feet, the feet of mercy for He cares for you ( 1 Peter 5:7 ). In those arms you will find love( John 15:13 ), mercy ( Romans 5:6-8 ), forgiveness( 1 John 1:9 ), and a grace that is sufficient ( 2 Corinthians 12:9 ). Will you choose Him ? Will you let Him set you free from the bonds of sin( John 8:36 )? I encourage you to do so. This is the single greatest choice you will ever make. It is a matter of life and death, life and death eternal( John 3:18 ). Don't wait, make the choice tonight( Matthew 24:36 )!

Jesus Calls Us Friends ( John 15:15 )

Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.

John 15:15

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Our King of kings and Lord of lords spoke these very words. I find them very beautiful. To me it shows the love He has not only for His disciples, but for all Christians. He calls us friend, despite who we were the day before we got saved He calls us friend. Brothers and sisters that is absolutely humbling. As I do so many time reflect on who I was and the mess my life was. I'm so grateful that I serve that great I AM. I'm so grateful He didn't give up on me and continued to reach out to me. The best way I describe it to people is God had to do a spring cleaning from the inside out. I'm in no way saying I'm perfect, but thank God everyday for how far He has brought me and look forward to see where He takes me next.

I notice in the second part of the verse how Jesus mentions that He tells the disciples that He reveals things to them that God the Father has revealed to Him. We have that too in the Word of God. Every question, problem, concern or topic is there. I find it amazing that people turn to everything in this crazy world, but rarely ever think to pick of the Word of God. Do you need comfort, do you need joy, or stress? I promise it's all in there. Friends be encouraged as 2009 comes. Share the gospel with someone new, in fact share it as much as possible. Remember no matter how things may look in the world all things work for our good( Romans 8:28 ) and in His plan.

For anyone reading this tonight who has not accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and personal Savior I invite you to do so. Ask Him into your heart and admit your a sinner in need of His forgiveness. Be real with Him and cast all your worries, fears, and doubts at His feet, the feet of mercy for He cares for you( 1 Peter 5:7 ). Repent of your old ways and find your identity in Jesus Christ( 2 Corinthians 5:17 ). Don't let your past or not being perfect in the way( Psalm 103:12, Romans 3:23 ). Good & Perfect Gifts Come From Above ( James 1:17 )

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

James 1:17

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well, friends once again Christmas has come and gone so quickly as it always does. Amazing how we spend so much time getting ready through shopping, cooking, cleaning, preparing, and decorating, yet it ends in 24 hours. This verse is very fitting for the holiday that just passed and to me this year I had an extra special gift. Of course no gift could ever replace the gift of our Messiah being born, but last night while in prayer I thanked God so much for my grandmother being here another year with us for Christmas. For anyone who doesn't know, she nearly died the week after Thanksgiving. I know the very reason she is alive is because of God.

So as you can see this verse talks about every perfect and good gift comes from above and life is truly a good gift. God provided my grandmother with more time with us and to me that truly is great gift and to me that topped every gift I got this year. Of course the longer I've walked with the Lord I see that His good and perfect gifts come in many forms from smiles your down to words of encouragement on a rough day. Gifts don't have to come in boxes with bows, in fact most of the gifts I've received lately in my life are people and truly they are blessings/gifts and I thank God every day for them. God knows our very needs. While we may not understand why or how people come in our lives , I know we are grateful for them coming into our lives.

For anyone reading this who has not accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and personal Savior I invite you to do so. The Lord Hears When Ya Call ( Psalm 4:3 )

But know that the LORD hath set apart him that is godly for himself: the LORD will hear when I call unto him.

Psalm 4:3

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Have you my brothers and sisters had those times were the storms of life were coming down hard and others around you had it good. In fact those who were believers and those who where lost and it seems like God isn't listening. Truth of the matter is He is listening. The thing is whatever we are going through is a result of one of two things. Either the devil is trying to trying to attack us or God could be using it to strengthen us. Remember as it is written all things are used for our good( Romans 8:28 ). Friends one of the many things I love about God is knowing no matter what time , where I am or what I need to talk about He is there for me. Even before I got saved He was looking out for me. You know this year makes two Christmas that I've been able to celebrate with a much different perspective on this time of year. I mean I always knew all the sayings and such, but last year and this year have had such deeper mean to me.

So friends I urge you call on Him no matter how big or how small it is. We have been granted an opportunity to have direct fellowship with Him. You don't need format or certain words or length. Instead like I tell people be real with Him and remember He is your heavenly Father. He loves you more than anyone ever will. A song that comes to mind is "Mighty To Save" and I promise He is mighty to save. We serve the great serve the great I AM( Exodus 3:14 ).

Don't let your past or not being perfect get in the way( Psalm 103:12, Romans 3:23 ). Instead cast yourself upon His mercy( Luke 18:13 ). Remember He is waiting on you with arms wide open( John 3:16 ). In those arms you will find love( John 15:13 ), mercy( Romans 5:6-8 ), forgiveness( 1 John 1:9 ), and a grace that is sufficient( 2 Corinthians ). Will you choose Him? Will you let Him set you free from the bonds of sin( John 8:36 ) ? I encourage you to do so. This is the single greatest choice you will ever make. It is a matter of life and death, life and death eternal( John 3:18 ). Don't wait, make the choice tonight( Matthew 24:36 ) !

Witnesses For Christ ( Acts 1:8 )

But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

Acts 1:8

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As Christians we are called to be witnesses for Christ. We should be reaching out to others and sharing the gospel of Christ. This verse wasn't just for those in the upper room. Isn't a witness someone who has first hand knowledge? I know I can share the gospel not because of who I am,but because God equips me with the words to say. There have been times I've spoken to people and I'm like wow where did that come from ? Immediately I give credit where credit is due and that is my heavenly father. Friends being a witness can come in many forms whether it is open air preaching, handing out gospel tracts, counseling a friend when they ask advice, playing uplifting Christian music, or as I tell people being a living testimony. As the Word says those who preach the Word should live a life according to it( 1 Corinthians 9:14 ). In my humble opinion I believe Stephen's living testimony had an impact on Paul's life. I believe it showed him who Christians really were.

Brothers and sisters in Christ we really do have a great calling on our lives and that is to reach out to this lost and dying world. Everyday there are people dying who if they don't know Jesus Christ as Savior are going to hell. I hate to be blunt, but He is the only way to heaven( John 14:6 ). So friends I urge you go out and tell someone about Jesus Christ and about the gift of eternal life. What I've found is the things I gave up from my past really were not worth anything, in fact they had no value compare to crown of life waiting on me in my home above. Another thing to remember is we are not guaranteed tomorrow. Do you want that person spending eternity gnashing their teeth? Regardless of how well I know someone I would not want that for anyone. Instead be that light to them leading them to Christ( Matthew 5:16 ).

For anyone reading this tonight who has not accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and personal Savior I invite you to do so. Ask Him into your heart and admit your a sinner in need of His forgiveness. Be real and cast all your fears, doubts, and worries at His feet, the feet of mercy for He cares for you( 1 Peter 5:7 ). Repent of your ways and find your identity in Jesus Christ( 2 Corinthians 5:17 ). Don't wait, make the choice tonight( Matthew 24:36 ) !

Our Help Comes From The Lord ( Psalm 121:1-2 )

I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.

My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth.

Psalms 121:1-2

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Amen to theses verses! Whenever troubles, trials or tough times come our way, all we need to do is look to our Lord in heaven for help. You know I reflect on how many times in my past before I got saved how stupid I acted. I did so many ignorant things to solve my problems that did nothing, but add to my situations. Sad thing is more people do this than we realize. The common thing people in today's society do is turn to drugs or alcohol. The thing is neither one solves problems it really just creates problems. Friends it destroys friendships, separates families, and ruins marriages. Now I know some may say well nowhere in the bible does it say we can't have alcohol, but it does say in moderation. In fact the bible tells us to be sober and to be on guard for the devil our adversary is like a lion looking for those whom he may devour( 1 Peter 5:8 ). Well, here is my humble and personal opinion what are your reasons for it? Is it for comfort? If that is so the Word of God provides that and no bad side effects. Do you need it for happiness? The bible covers that too and in great detail. Why is it people need to go other places for enjoyment or contentment than God's Word. As it is written man can not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from God's mouth( Deuteronomy 8:3 ).

These verses came to me tonight when I thought about the song "Praise You In This Storm" by Casting Crowns. No matter how rough life gets we can always look up to heaven and know our help is on the way. I know sometimes when the storms of life are pouring down its hard to hold on, but I'm sending encouragement to hold fast and stay strong. Remember we have a strong tower, our fortress, our buckler( Psalm 18:1-3 ).

Repent of your ways and find your identity in Jesus Christ ( 2 Corinthians 5:17). Will you choose Him ? Will you let Him set you free from the bonds of sin( John 8:36 )? I encourage you to do so. This is the single greatest choice you will ever make. It is a matter of life and death, life and death eternal( John 3:18 ). Don't wait, make the choice tonight( Matthew 24:36 ) !

Is The Truth In You ? ( 1 John 1:8-10 )

If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

1 John 1:8-10

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As Christians one thing we must be able to do is to discern. To discern is to identify or to separate between. For example we should be able as believers be able to discern between the Lord's voice and the devil's voice. So what does this have to do with these verses? Well in verse 8 it talks about being deceived. If someone who "claims" to be a Christians and says they have no sin they are deceiving them self. Why I'm sure some might ask? I mean some people think that once you get saved that all the sudden you stop sinning and life is perfect. No sorry life isn't perfect, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't try to live a life according to the Word. Remember some of the greatest heroes of the bible made errors. Were human and no that is not an excuse that is just fact. Course when anyone tries to use that to say they can sin I say no. I say we may be under grace( Romans 6:14 ),but that in no way gives us a license to sin( Romans 6:1-2 ). The first thing I've realized is as apostle Paul wrote in his letter to the church in Rome all have fallen short of the glory of God( Romans 3:23 ). So God realizes we are going to make mistakes, but remember where He looks( 1 Samuel 16:7 ).

Then look at the next verse, it says if we confess our sins he is faithful to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Awesome isn't it?! This was accomplished when our Lord and Savior was crucified on calvary on that old rugged cross. He paid our fine with His life, not cause we deserved it, but out of love. Like I've told others including a youth group I help with in Forsyth, Georgia I know love cause He loved me first.

It is a matter of life and death, life and death eternal( John 3:18 ).Don't wait, make the choice tonight( Matthew 24:36 )!

We Brought Nothin' In( 1 Timothy 6:7 )

For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.

1 Timothy 6:7

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You it never ceases to amaze me how much stuff people have to have and then they never use or they throw out. Our society is all about having this and that regardless of how much it cost or if you really need it. It is sickening. Like I stated a few times before in my devotionals our society has become truly a materialistic society. Another thought that comes to mind when I read this verse is when is the last time you ever seen luggage racks on top of a hearse. When life's journey ends and you breathe your last breathe you go to judgment and then to one of two places heaven or hell.

So why do people cling on things of this world? The answer is the devil has people blinded in many different ways. Either he has them tricked in to believing there are other ways to heaven. Another way he has them believing there is nothing after this life so just live it up and get all you can here. Another thing he likes to do is twist the truth. These ways are just a few of them, but are many and more and they are old. The devil doesn't have any new tricks, he is using the same old tricks and sadly people are falling for them.

Brothers and sisters in Christ we need to reach out to them. We need to share the gospel. Remember we are to be the light to this dark and fallen world( Matthew 5:16 ). They must know there is only one way to heaven and that is Jesus Christ, our Lord and risen Savior( John 14:6 ). Friends I encourage you to witness to someone every chance you get. The best way is to be a living testimony and to live a life according to the gospel( 1 Corinthians 9:14 ).

For anyone reading this tonight who not accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and personal Savior I invite you to do so. Ask Him into your heart and admit your a sinner in need of His forgiveness. Be real with Him and cast all worries, doubts, and fears at His feet, the feet of mercy for He cares for you( 1 Peter 5:7 ). Don't wait, make the choice tonight( Matthew 24:36 )!

Though I Walk Through The Valley...( Psalm 23:4 )

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

Psalm 23:4

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A very familiar verse and very comforting as well. No matter where we are or what we are going through God is with us. I know the reason I stay at peace despite the things that happen throughout the week and my life recently is because God is with me. It's comforting to know that we serve a god who will be with us and give us the strength we need each day to make it through. Even when life's journey ends He is with us to guide us home.

You know as I know wrote a few days ago David was on the run quite a bit as we know from either his kids or Saul, but still he trusted in God completely. You know what I've noticed personally is the longer you walk with the Lord the more you trust in Him. In fact I don't know what life would be without Him. Like the apostle Paul said everything I have without Christ is dung( Philippians 3:8 ). Friends to me I didn't really start living till I knew Jesus Christ as my Savior. Brothers and sisters in Christ I encourage you if you are enduring a hard time or going through a struggle remember the Lord will be with you. As it says in this verse as the psalmist put it "thy rod and thy staff comfort me". Remember Jesus said I am the good shepherd( John 10:11 ). He will take care of His sheep and they will know His voice( John 10:16 ).

Friends none of us no when we will breathe our last breathe so take in each moment and live it for God. Take every opportunity and share the gospel. This can come in many forms; living a life according to the Word, handing out gospel tracts, and of course telling someone about Jesus Christ the real reason for the season.

For anyone reading this tonight who has not accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and personal Savior I encourage you to do so. Ask Him into your heart and admit your a sinner in need of His forgiveness. Be real with Him and cast all your fears, doubts, and worries at His feet, the feet of mercy for He cares for you( 1 Peter 5:7 ). Will you choose Him ? Will you let Him set you free from the bonds of sin( John 8:36 ) ? I encourage you to do so. This is the single greatest choice you will ever make. It is a matter of life and death, life and death eternal( John 3:18 ). Don't wait, make the choice tonight( Matthew 24:36 ) !

The Lord Gives Us Strength & Peace ( Psalm 29:11 )

The LORD will give strength unto his people; the LORD will bless his people with peace.

Psalm 29:11

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Amen to this verse! I know so many brothers and sisters in Christ can agree whole heartedly. For me this was ever so personal last week when my grandmother was in the hospital. Despite how things looked, how the situation was I knew God was still in control. The very fact I had a peace in my soul was just awesome. It showed me just how deep His love goes. The great thing is no matter how long you walk with Him, spend with Him in prayer, or read His word there is so much more. This reminds me of the song "Enough" by Jeremy Camp. I love how the song says, " And all of you is more than enough for all of me."

I love how in this verse it says He will give strength to His people and bless His people with peace. God gives us strength daily to get through. I know cause some days when I get home and reflect on my day I know it is only because of God. Then in the second part of the verse it says He will bless them with peace. Like I mentioned earlier about last week with my grandmother in the hospital. I know it was God that bless me and my family with peace to make it through. God knows our very needs and will meet them. Thing is people get worried about life. Truth of the matter is we need to just do our best and put the rest in God's hands. He doesn't expect perfection, but He does like direction.

Friends I know the holidays can be stressful, but I send encouragement that God will take care of your needs. God takes care of His own( Psalm 37:25 ). He will never leave us or forsake us, surely goodness and mercy will follow us all the days of our lives( Deuteronomy 31:8, Psalm 23:6 ). So brothers and sisters in Christ remember as it is written I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me( Philippians 4:13 ).

Repent of your old ways and instead find your identity in Jesus Christ( 2 Corinthians 5:17 ). Don't let your past or not being perfect get in the way( Psalm 103:12, Romans 3:23 ). Instead cast yourself upon His mercy( Luke 18:13 ). Remember He is waiting on you with arms wide open( John 3:16 ). In those arms you will find love( John 15:13 ), mercy( Romans 5:6-8 ), forgiveness( 1 John 1:9 ) and a grace that is sufficient( 2 Corinthians 12:9 ). Will you choose Him? Will you let Him set you free from the bonds of sin( John 8:36 )? I encourage you to do so. This is the single greatest choice you will ever make. It is a matter of life and death, life and death eternal( John 3:18 ). Don't wait, make the choice tonight( Matthew 24:36 ) !.

The LORD's Mercy ( Lamentations 3:22-23 )

It is of the LORD'S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.

They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

Lamentations 3:22-23

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It is His mercy that I am here today. I know this cause when I reflect at the life I lived before getting saved I lived very reckless. As some who know me personally I used to be a party person. I didn't just go to parties I took it to the extreme. Am I proud of this, most certainly not,but the point I am addressing is how I see how God protected me and kept trying to reach out to me. Friends I've told a few of my close brothers and sisters in Christ that like Jonah I ran and I thank God, He didn't have to send a whale to get my attention.

Still to this day I am in awe of how great His mercy is. Even on our bad days where we make a mistake and literally fall short of His glory, God shows us mercy. Each day His mercy is renewed towards us.( Lamentations 3:23 ). Something I've told the kids I help with in the youth group I help with is I know mercy cause I've been shown mercy. God has and continues to show me mercy so in turn I make an effort to show it. Remember friends we did nothing to deserve mercy, much less eternal life so I encourage you all to show mercy on your brothers and sisters in Christ, share the gospel and reach out to the lost.

For anyone reading this tonight who has not accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and personal Savior I invite you to do so. Ask Him into your heart and admit your a sinner in need of His forgiveness. Be real with Him and cast all your doubts, fears, and worries at His feet, the feet of mercy for He cares for you( 1 Peter 5:7 ). Do Not Be Conformed To This World ( Romans 12:2 )

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Romans 12:2

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This verse is one of my personal favorites. This verse truly described to me how God transformed me last year in July from the man I was to the man I am now. I know the way I think, the way I act, the way I talk, and just the way I conduct myself is proof that God worked on me from the inside out. The best way I can describe it is He did a spring cleaning of me.

Friends as this verse clearly states we need not be conformed to this world. This means anything of this world, whether in what is what to wear, what to listen to or the top in the box office. Regardless of the world is saying you need not go by what it says, but instead go by the Word of God. Truly if you are saved, a born again Christian I believe in my heart you will not want to partake in things that go against the Word of God. It just doesn't make sense. I'm not saying it will be easy, but it is right. It is written that we are to prove all things( 1 Thessalonians 5:21 ). I've said this many times, but if we share this gospel we should be living it( 1 Corinthians 9:14 ). Friends a living testimony speaks volume. Believe it or not those who are lost are looking for us to fall. They are waiting for us to trip up just so they can somehow criticize us or God. Another thing is most people are so used to dealing with so called Christians that they are sick of it. You know who I am talking about, those who play church by going Sunday for their fire insurance. Brothers and sisters I encourage you to show them that there are those who live the life they talk about. Were not perfect, but we don't go around trying to put on an image of perfection. Instead show them a life that bears the fruit of the spirit( Galatians 5:22-23 ).

For anyone reading this tonight who has not accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and personal Savior I invite you to do so. Ask Him into your heart and admit your a sinner in need of his forgiveness. Be real with Him and cast all your worries, doubts, and fears at His feet, the feet of mercy for He cares( 1 Peter 5:7 ). Don't wait, make the choice tonight( Matthew 24:36 ) !

Total Confidence In God ( Psalm 25:1-5 )

Unto thee, O LORD, do I lift up my soul.

O my God, I trust in thee: let me not be ashamed, let not mine enemies triumph over me.

Yea, let none that wait on thee be ashamed: let them be ashamed which transgress without cause.

Shew me thy ways, O LORD; teach me thy paths.

Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day.

Psalm 25:1-5

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Like I've said on a number of occasions I love the book of Psalms. There seems to be every topic covered there. In fact many times I find that is where I go when reading the bible outside of doing my devotionals and doing bible studies. I'm sure like many of my brothers and sisters in Christ can relate to how David felt in some of these Psalms. Despite however David felt in all situations he knew God was with him at all times. I love how he opens this one with " Unto thee, O LORD, do I lift up my soul." David always knew despite who he was running from or the trouble he was in that the Lord had his soul. This reminds me of when Jesus said of how we should not fear the one who kills the body, but instead the one who could kill both the body and the soul( Matthew 10:28 ). Friends all of us are appointed one death and then to judgment( Hebrews 9:27 ).

Sad thing is when faced with trouble, trials, or even death people are not willing to stand up for what they believe in, much less faith. Today sadly we live in a world where people praise the creation more than the creator. Don't believe it? Look at how they are going green, but removing God and everything that contains any mention or hint at Him from public places. Their excuse is separation of church and state. The more this country turns its back on God the worse things will get. Brothers and sisters I encourage you to be like David and trust in the Lord completely.

Then you see in the next two verses how it talks about those who trust in the Lord or wait on the Lord should never be ashamed. I agree there is nothing to be ashamed of in God or in His Word. His gospel is filled with love, mercy, and forgiveness. He paid our debt by sending His son to die on an old cross so we could have eternal life( John 3:16 ). Friends I haven't found anything in the Word that I'm ashamed of. Now looking back on my past sure I could find some things, but not in the Word.

Then you see in the fourth and fifth verse how David asked for God to direct his paths. Friends if we need guidance all we need to do is just ask God and He will show us. He doesn't hide it from us or make us do certain tasks to obtain it. All He is asks is that we ask. Awesome isn't it, to know God will help guide us every step of the way. Think about it He has given us armor to defend us from the enemy( Ephesians 6:10-17 ), the greatest weapon ever( Ephesians 6:17 ), He promised to be with us every step of the way( Deuteronomy 31:8 ) and on top of all of that He will guide us. Be encouraged everyday knowing that since God is for you brothers and sisters that we have no reason to fear. Remember as it is written the just shall live by faith( Habakkuk 2:4, Galatians 3:11 ) .

For anyone reading this tonight who not accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and personal Savior I invite you to do. Will you let Him set you free from the bonds of sin( John 8:36 )? I encourage you to do so. This is the single greatest choice you will ever make. Don't Take It Personal ( John 15:18-19 )

If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you.
If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.

John 15:18-19

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ever had a time where you tried to reach out to a lost person or just tried to share the gospel in public and got a feeling of hate. In fact it probably felt pretty personal either by the words they said or by their expressions. The truth of the matter is, it's not you they fighting against. It is the sin in their lives is feeling threatened by the Holy Spirit who dwells in all true believers. What Jesus was telling His disciples here was don't take things personal they hate who you follow. This message goes the same for the church now that the world doesn't hate us personally, but instead hates who we serve. Why? This world doesn't like being held accountable to anyone for anyone for anything. The thing is all things will be brought into light and into judgment when it's all over.

When I read where it says in the 19 verse how it says you are not of this world. It always reminds me of how we as Christians were bought with a price( 1 Corinthians 6:20 ) and have been separated. Then it also reminds of how there is no fellowship between light and darkness.( 1 John 1:6, Ephesians 5:11 ) So brothers and sisters in Christ be encouraged when sharing the gospel and you are treated harsh do not take it personally. Remember they hate who we serve and instead pray for them. Friends before getting saved I was bad about not wanting to show pity to those who did me wrong. Now my first thought is instead of anger is being sad for them. For if a person does not accept Christ and they die they will spend eternity in hell. Friends that is one thing that motivates me to share the good news of Jesus Christ. So friends I encourage you to share the gospel with anyone who is willing to listen.

Repent of your old ways and find your identity in Jesus Christ( 2 Corinthians 5:17 ).Don't let your past or not being perfect get in the way( Psalm 103:12, Romans 3:23 ). Instead cast yourself upon His mercy( Luke 18:13 ). Remember He is waiting on you with arms wide open( John 3:16 ). In those arms you will find love( John 15:13 ), mercy( Romans 5:6-8 ), forgiveness( 1John 1:9 ), and a grace that is sufficient( 2 Corinthians 12:9 ). will you choose Him? Will you let Him set you free from the bonds of sin( John 8:36 ) ? I encourage you to do so. This is the single greatest choice you will ever make. It is a matter of life and death, life and death eternal( John 3:18 ). Don't wait, make the choice tonight( Matthew 24:36 ) !

By Your Words ( Matthew 12:34-37 )

O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.
A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.
But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.
For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.

Matthew 12:34-37

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

These words written in red said by our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Talk about hitting it right on the head. The reason the Pharisees and Sadducees got irritated was not cause He was wrong, but cause He was exposing them for who they really were. As it is written it is not what goes in a man,but what comes out that defiles a man( Matthew 15:11 ). Truly when you speak it says a lot about who you are. It really saddens me to hear people who go to church speak like devils outside the four walls. I just in my humble opinion can't see how someone who loves the Lord and has given their life to Him would speak unbecoming of the gospel. It to me just doesn't make any sense.

When I hear these verse a few different passages come to mind. In Ephesians the fourth chapter the first verse it talks about living worthy of the calling( Ephesians 4:1 ). I know for me when I first got saved I wasn't sure what I was to do in the church. The things to do seemed limited, pastor, youth leader, sunday school teachers and so forth. I thought where did I fit? The thing is as Christians we are all called to share the gospel with all the world. We are to be reaching to the lost and seeking to win souls. That is not just an evangelists or a pastors job that is a Christian's job. In fact I've come to find it to be the most enjoyable job cause I want to do it. Friends part of being born again is you develop compassion for the lost.

Another verse that comes to mind is those who preach the gospel should live the gospel( 1 Corinthians 9:14 ). In other words we should be living lives that match up with scripture. How can we witness to someone if we don't live the life we share with them. That is why I do my best to live a life according to the Word of God. I'm not perfect, just forgiven.

Another thing to consider is before speaking or even after you have said something check it with the Word( 1 Thessalonians 5:21 ). Now I'm not saying you won't make mistakes, but I promise the more you examine how you act and speak by the Word. Then the less you will think about it and just live and act the way God intended you to live( James 4:15 ).

So friends I encourage you to watch how you speak . Speak becoming of the gospel. Use your speech in such a way to reach out to the lost and to shed the light of Jesus Christ on this dark world.

Don't your past or not being perfect get in the way( Psalm 103:12, Romans 3:23 ). Instead cast yourself upon His mercy ( Luke 18:13 ). Don't wait, make the choice tonight( Matthew 24:36 ) !

Saved By Grace Through Faith ( Ephesians 2:8-9 )

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Ephesians 2:8-9

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There are some people, well sadly a lot of people who think they are good people and going to heaven because they do good things or because they go to church. Well, I'm going to be honest only those who do the will of the Father. The truth of the matter is sadly people put on one image in public and are completely different behind the scenes. I know because sadly that used to be me. Sure I didn't do drugs or anything stupid, but still I put on one face to the public and was another. That was one thing God really dealt with me when I got saved last year. Now I'm not saying I'm perfect now,but I thank God everyday for where He has brought me to. I've quit smoking and drinking, I've lost well over 60 pounds, and just so much. While on the outside and to most I appeared a good man, I had a list of things wrong and only God could fix thing. I reflect now to before July 27 ,2007 and glad to see there is nothing left of that old man.

Another thing I've noticed is people think just cause they go to church that will automatically get them in heaven. The thing is there are people going to church acting like saints and living like devils Monday through Saturday. Who do they think they are fooling? Sure they may fool their pastor, their family, members in the congregation, but they are not fooling God. When judgment day comes they will cry Lord, Lord , but He say depart from me for I never knew you( Matthew 7:23 ). The thing is these people just go for fire insurance and that isn't the reason to go. The reason to go to church is to enjoy fellowship with brothers and sisters in Christ, to praise God, and to learn more in the Word. You shouldn't go cause you have, but instead you should go cause you want to. Friends it's saddens my heart to know there are people out there who just play church and never get committed. There are those who profess Jesus Christ with their lips, but deny Him with their very lifestyles( Isaiah 29:13 ). I encourage you to live the life according to the Word. Don't justify something just to fit in. Instead be peculiar, a holy person worthy of the calling ( Ephesians 4:1 ). Remember like the verse says clearly we are saved by grace through faith. It is nothing we did,but it everything Christ did when He paid our debt on calvary. All He asked is that we believe( John 3:16 ).

Happy To Be Corrected By God ( Job 5:17 )

Behold, happy is the man whom God correcteth: therefore despise not thou the chastening of the Almighty:

Job 5:17

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You know growing up much like other kids I didn't like getting disciplined. Of course now looking back I see where it did me good. My mom knew what was best for me. She knew that in order for me to live right I need to do certain things in a certain way. Course like many can relate to me as children we grow up being rebellious. Why? Well, if you would have asked me a few years ago I would have said kids will be kids and yes to a degree that is true. The sad truth is much deeper, it is that we are living in a fallen world. Each day that passes it gets worse and worse . More and more families are more divided, crime continues to rise, and everyday sin become more common and acceptable. So as Christians how do we respond? By sharing the Gospel every chance we get. By living a life according to the Word of God. Yes I will admit it isn't easy, but we were never promised it would be( Matthew 7:14 ). Thing is waiting on us in heaven is a great reward of eternal life the greatest gift we ever got.

One problem with society in our fallen world is a lot of problems begin at home. Parents today simply don't care like they used to. I'm not saying there aren't parents that don't,but a majority don't. For us as Christians God is our heavenly Father and if He didn't correct us or punish when we did something He wouldn't be just. See God is love, but He is just as well. Remember when He chastises you its not that He doesn't love, but in fact that He does love and just wants to set you back on course( Hebrews 12:6-7 ).

Friends I've come under this chastisement myself a couple times and believe me I see where God was saying hey John ,you kinda slipped off course. He was demeaning or trying to tear me down. In fact after it was done I felt better cause God showed me somewhere I needed work on and two I immediately felt His love. So friends don't be afraid of chastisement, but don't go lookin' for it. The point is we are trying to live lives according to the gospel we share remember( 1 Corinthians 9:14 ).

Don't wait, make the choice ( Matthew 24:36 )!

Inside Renewed Day By Day ( 2 Corinthians 4:16 )

For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.

2 Corinthians 4:16

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

How I've come to understand this so much more everyday. Despite the fact that none of us can avoid of growing older everyday what is awesome is how God can and will sustain you. This weekend I worked everyday including the day after Thanksgiving and man were we busy. The thing is between this and recently being sick my body has been pretty worn physically yet despite it all my spirits have remained high. I'm not saying I'm perfect, but instead saying I'm thankful every night knowing I have rest in Jesus who renews that inward man. I know the strength( Philippians 4:13 ) I draw on day to day is from Him alone.

I can imagine this is how David must have felt when being on the run from Saul. Brothers and sisters in Christ while we can't do anything about aging as it is just a part of life be glad to know that which dwells in us is renewed daily. Even better as it is written greater is he who is in us than he that which is in this world( 1 John 4:4 ). Share the Word every chance you get. There is nothing in it to be ashamed of and one of the best ways is by living it. After all as Christians we should be living the life we speak of( 1 Corinthians 9:14 ).

Don't your past or not being perfect get in the way( {Psalm 103:12, Romans 3:23 ). Will you let Him set you free from the bonds of sin( John 8:36 )? I encourage you to do so. It is the single greatest decision you will ever make in your life. It is a matter of life and death, life and death eternal( John 3:18 ). Don't wait , make the choice tonight( Matthew 24:36 ) !
