If You Love Him, Keep His Commandments ( John 14:15 )

If ye love me, keep my commandments.

John 14:15
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Man this verse does sum things up very beautifully. We serve God out loving obedience. Jesus set this example when He went all the way to the cross to die for the world's sins at calvary( 1 John 2:2 ). You know friends I find the more I walk with the Lord the more I want to do this because I love Him. I know more of my brothers and sisters in Christ will agree. It's the deep intimate relationship a Christian develops with Jesus Christ and continues to grow throughout their life. It's knowing how much He means to you and how grateful everyday you are that He choose to bear our sin so that we could spend eternity in Heaven with Him. Truly Jesus lived out what He spoke when He said no greater love than to lay down one's life for a friend( John 15:13 ). Jesus laid down His life down so we could have it more abundantly( John 10:10 ).

Friends now I know your thinking well I have moments where even I slip and break His commandments. Yes and God knows your not perfect. What this is talking about is, is if you love Him you will seek to do His commandments. Sure you will come short, but it is about direction( Romans 12:1-2 ). The apostle Paul summed it up well when he said that all have fallen short of the glory of God( Romans 3:23 ). None of us are perfect, but if we love the Lord we need to seek to follow and keep His commandments. They really are not hard if prepare ourselves daily with the armor of God and the weapon He gave us in His Word( Ephesians 6:10-18 ). I've found that the more you fill your self with things that are good, noble, of good report and of good value that you tend to think on them. So spend time in the Word and believe it or not your less likely to end up breaking God's law.

For anyone reading this tonight who has not accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and personal Savior I invite you to do so. Ask Him into your heart and admit your a sinner in need of His forgiveness. Be real with Him and cast all your worries, doubts, and fear at His feet, the feet of mercy for He cares for you( 1 Peter 5:7 ). Repent of your old ways and find your identity in Jesus Christ( 2 Corinthians 5:17 ). Don't let your past or not being perfect get in the way( Psalm 103:12, Romans 3:23 ). Instead cast yourself upon His mercy( Luke 18:13 ). Remember He is waiting on you with arms wide open( John 3:16 ). In those arms you will find love( John 15:13 ), mercy( Romans 5:6-8 ), forgiveness( 1 John 1:9 ), and a grace that is sufficient( 2 Corinthians 12:9 ). Will you choose Him? Will you let Him set you free from the bonds of sin( John 8:36 ) ? I encourage you to do so. This is the single greatest choice you will ever make. It is a matter of life and death, life and death eternal( John 3:18 ). Don't wait, make the choice tonight( Matthew 24:36 ) !

God bless,
John W. Whybrew III <><
