Blessed Be The Name Of The LORD ( Job 1:21-22 )

And said, Naked came I out of my mother's womb, and naked shall I return thither: the LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD.

In all this Job sinned not, nor charged God foolishly.

Job 1:21-22

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You know I find Job to be an amazing and inspiring man of faith. Truly he placed his trust in God completely. He realized that when he came into this world he came in with nothing and nothing would he leave with. The apostle Paul reminds Timothy of this in his letter to him( 1 Timothy 6:7 ). So why is it today we live in a society that is so focused on having this and that. Why is it we must have the latest this and that. The truth of the matter is when you die it won't go with you. So why is it people focus so hard on material items that have so little value, that consume their time? I can answer that question very simply because they care more about themselves.

Another thing I noticed right off in verse 21 is how in the Job says blessed be the name of the Lord. Despite the fact of just losing his property and his children Job is praising God. How many of us could do that? The thing that is exactly how we should be, praising God through our storms just as when the sky is blue outside. It doesn't mean it will be easy, but He will be there. When we experience loss God will provide comfort and a peace that nothing and no one else can provide. Think about it this way if someone you love who is a brother or sister in the faith dies as a result of cancer think of how they are no longer in pain. Think of how they are starting eternity with Jesus Christ where there is no more pain, no more grief, and one sweet day you will join them.

Then we see in verse 22 it says Job sinner not nor charged God foolishly. Another words Job did not go out and go blame God for mis fortune. He didn't sin by using the Lord's name in vain, instead Job remained faithful. Job trusted in God and put His faith in Him completely. Was it easy? As anyone who has read the book of Job knows no,but in the end for his faithfulness God blessed him indeed. God honors those who are faithful and those who put their trust in Him.

So friends I encourage you to trust God completely and know that God has your best interests always. Sometimes you will go through trials, but be assured that they will only strengthen you for the path ahead. When you need strength remember we can call on Jesus and He will give us the strength we need( Philippians 4:13 ). Remember don't tell God how big your storm is, instead remind the storm how big God is.

For anyone reading this tonight who has not accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and personal Savior I invite you to do so. Ask Him into your heart and admit your a sinner in need of His forgiveness. Be real with Him and cast all your worries, doubts, and fears at His feet, the feet of mercy for He cares for you( 1 Peter 5:7 ). Repent of your old ways, sins and find your identity in Jesus Christ( 2 Corinthians 5:17 ). Don't let your past or not being perfect get in the way( Psalm 103:12, Romans 3:23 ). Instead cast yourself upon His mercy( Luke 18:13 ). Remember He is waiting on you with arms wide open( John 3:16 ). In those arms you will find love( John 15:13 ), mercy( Romans 5:6-8 ), forgiveness( 1 John 1:9 ), and a grace that is sufficient( 2 Corinthians 12:9 ). Will you choose Him? Will you let Him set you free from the bonds of sin( John 8:36 ) ? I encourage you to do so. This is the single greatest choice you will ever make. It is matter of life and death, life and death eternal( John 3:18 ). Don't wait, make the choice tonight( Matthew 24:36 ) !

God bless,
John W. Whybrew III <><
