Seek God First ( Matthew 6:33 )

But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

Matthew 6:33

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

How many times do we get consumed with the things of this world? How many times do we get concerned about wondering will we have enough of this and enough of that? Sadly too many people worry about so many material items as if they have any control of them, like the price of gas. Friends what we need to focus our eyes on is Jesus Christ alone. Seek Him above all else and depend upon Him for our every needs. Now does this mean that we should just slack off and not work to earn a living and just say hey God give me free food and money? No. What it does mean, is we need to do our very best to meet our needs and leave the rest to God. We need not worry about the problem and worries of tomorrow for I guarantee tomorrow has plenty of worries of its own( Matthew 6:34 ).

You know I am in awe of how many times God has provided for me, despite how things looked He provided every time. Best part is God is always on time. Now it may not be when we want or think it is needed, but when reflect we can always see how it came exactly when we needed it. See God knows us so well and reaches out to meet out needs. Awesome isn't to know we serve a god who loves us so deeply to send His son to die for our sins and not only that provides our every needs. Last Friday night at youth service we had a guest speak talk about God being our provider always. What is so awesome is this message came at such a perfect time as just recently I needed this comfort from God and He reminded me of this message this week on Monday. I just love how God provides a brother or sister with the words of encouragement you will be needing later. God was preparing my heart that night with the message as He knew what I would go through. Talk about a love that runs so deep and how He knows our needs even before we know about them. So friends I encourage you to seek God and His righteousness first above all else. Remember God is to be center in your life and nothing is to come before Him( Exodus 20:3 ).

For anyone reading this tonight who has not accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and personal Savior I invite you to do so. Ask Him into your heart and admit your a sinner in need of His forgiveness. Be real with Him and cast all your worries, doubts, and fears at His feet, the feet of mercy for He cares for you( 1 Peter 5:7 ). Repent of your old ways and find your identity in Jesus Christ( 2 Corinthians 5:17 ). Don't let your past or not being perfect get in the way( Psalm 103:12, Romans 3:23 ). Instead cast yourself upon His mercy( Luke 18:13 ). Remember He is waiting on you with arms wide open( John 3:16 ). In those arms you will find love( John 15:13 ), mercy( Romans 5:6-8 ), forgiveness( 1 John 1:9 ), and a grace that is sufficient( 2 Corinthians 12:9 ). Will you choose Him? Will you let Him set you free from the bonds of sin( John 8:36 ) ? I encourage you to do so. This is the single greatest choice you will ever make. It is a matter of life and death, life and death eternal( John 3:18 ). Don't wait, make the choice tonight( Matthew 24:36 ) !

God bless,
John W. Whybrew III <><
