Try My Heart O LORD ( Psalm 26:2 )

Examine me, O LORD, and prove me; try my reins and my heart.

Psalm 26:2
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For forty years the Israelites wandered in the wilderness because of their disobedience and because God was trying the hearts of His people to see if they deserved to enter the land He promised their fathers( Deuteronomy 8:2 ). See we have no room to examine God as He is a holy, perfect and just god. On the other hand we are lacking perfection and do need need to be examined. Does this mean we are bad people? No, but until we reach heaven we will never be free of making mistakes or going a day without sinning. The sinning I'm referring to is not willful sin which as Christians we should not be doing( 1 Corinthians 9:14,Ephesians 4:1. ) Like I said we will make mistakes( Romans 3:23 ) we are humans, but still we need to be making an effort to conform our lives to be more like Christ everyday( Romans 12:1-2 ). You know each night when we go in prayer we should have God examine our hearts from today and see how we've been. Have we've been an example of Christ and been a light to this world ( Matthew 5:16 )or have we been just another face passing by ? Friends you don't have to do open air preaching or handing out gospel tracts to share the gospel. The strongest message is by living the life and by being a living testimony. Show this world that there are real Christian. Those who not only read the Word, but live it. So brothers and sisters in Christ I encourage you when you go in prayer to have God examine you and to try your heart. Let Him show you where you need to still grow and improve. Believe me we all have areas and the awesome thing is He will help us and be there every step of the way. Remember you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you( Philippians 4:13 ).

For anyone reading this tonight who has not accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and personal Savior I encourage you to do so. Ask Him into your heart and admit your a sinner in need of His forgiveness. Be real with Him and cast all your worries, doubts, and fears at His feet, the feet of mercy for He cares for you( 1 Peter 5:7 ). Repent of your old ways and find your identity in Jesus Christ( 2 Corinthians 5:17 ). Don't let your past or not being perfect get in the way( Psalm 103:12, Romans 3:23 ). Instead cast yourself upon His mercy( Luke 18:13 ). Remember He is waiting on you with arms wide open( John 3:16 ). In those arms you will find love( John 15:13 ), mercy(Romans 5:6-8 ), forgiveness( 1 John 1:9 ), and a grace that is sufficient ( 2 Corinthians 12:9 ). Will you choose Him? Will you let Him set you free from the bonds of sin( John 8:36 ) ? I encourage you to do so. This is the single greatest choice you will ever make. It is a matter of life and death, life and death eternal( John 3:18 ). Don't wait, make the choice tonight( Matthew 24:36 )!

God bless,
John W. Whybrew III <><
