Encourage One Another ( Proverbs 27:17 )

Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.

Proverbs 27:17

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Friends as brothers and sisters in Christ we should be encouraging one another daily( Hebrews 3:13 ). Sure the Word of God is the greatest comfort, but in encouraging others we are showing we are His disciples( Matthew 13:35 ). It is that true love we have for one another that makes us want to encourage one another and therefore fulfilling the commandment He gave. Another awesome effect of encouraging someone else it also encourages you through knowing God is comforting them. It is such a blessing in my humble opinion when I share something with a brother or sister in Christ and to see them smile at hearing the words gave me for them.

So friends encourage your brothers and sisters in Christ. Remember how God has comforted you in trials and tribulations and in turn share it with them( 2 Corinthians 1:4 ). Another thing to consider is using kind words when you see them hurting or just down. It truly is amazing how one kind word goes a long way. I've found some days just someone saying you are really nice or kind can make my day( Proverbs 12:25 ). So friends I encourage you to encourage your brothers and sisters in Christ. Even if is only to tell them they look nice today or by giving them a hug. Share encouragement after all Jesus said be of good cheer for I have overcame the world( John 16:33 ). That right there is a huge encouragement to me. It tells me I have victory over this world through my Lord and savior.

For anyone reading this tonight who has not accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and personal savior I invite you to do so. Ask Him into your heart and admit your a sinner in need of His forgiveness. Be real with Him and cast all your worries, doubts, and fears at His feet, the feet of mercy for He does care for you( 1 Peter 5:7 ). Repent of your old way and find your identity in Jesus Christ( 2 Corinthians 5:17 ). Don't worry about your past or not being perfect( Psalm 103:12, Romans 3:23 ). Instead cast yourself upon His mercy( Luke 18:13 ). He is waiting on you with arms wide open( John 3:16 ). In those arms you will find love( John 15:13 ), mercy( Romans 5:6-8 ), forgiveness( 1 John 1:9 ), and a grace that is sufficient( 2 Corinthians 12:9 ). Will you choose Him? Will you let Him set you free from the bonds of sin( John 8:36 )? I encourage you to do so. This is the single greatest choice you will make. It is a matter of life and death, life and death eternally( John 3:18 ). Don't wait, make the choice tonight( Matthew 24:36 )!

God bless,
John W. Whybrew III <><
