Seek God First ( Matthew 6:33 )

But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

Matthew 6:33

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

How many times do we get consumed with the things of this world? How many times do we get concerned about wondering will we have enough of this and enough of that? Sadly too many people worry about so many material items as if they have any control of them, like the price of gas. Friends what we need to focus our eyes on is Jesus Christ alone. Seek Him above all else and depend upon Him for our every needs. Now does this mean that we should just slack off and not work to earn a living and just say hey God give me free food and money? No. What it does mean, is we need to do our very best to meet our needs and leave the rest to God. We need not worry about the problem and worries of tomorrow for I guarantee tomorrow has plenty of worries of its own( Matthew 6:34 ).

You know I am in awe of how many times God has provided for me, despite how things looked He provided every time. Best part is God is always on time. Now it may not be when we want or think it is needed, but when reflect we can always see how it came exactly when we needed it. See God knows us so well and reaches out to meet out needs. Awesome isn't to know we serve a god who loves us so deeply to send His son to die for our sins and not only that provides our every needs. Last Friday night at youth service we had a guest speak talk about God being our provider always. What is so awesome is this message came at such a perfect time as just recently I needed this comfort from God and He reminded me of this message this week on Monday. I just love how God provides a brother or sister with the words of encouragement you will be needing later. God was preparing my heart that night with the message as He knew what I would go through. Talk about a love that runs so deep and how He knows our needs even before we know about them. So friends I encourage you to seek God and His righteousness first above all else. Remember God is to be center in your life and nothing is to come before Him( Exodus 20:3 ).

For anyone reading this tonight who has not accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and personal Savior I invite you to do so. Ask Him into your heart and admit your a sinner in need of His forgiveness. Be real with Him and cast all your worries, doubts, and fears at His feet, the feet of mercy for He cares for you( 1 Peter 5:7 ). Repent of your old ways and find your identity in Jesus Christ( 2 Corinthians 5:17 ). Don't let your past or not being perfect get in the way( Psalm 103:12, Romans 3:23 ). Instead cast yourself upon His mercy( Luke 18:13 ). Remember He is waiting on you with arms wide open( John 3:16 ). In those arms you will find love( John 15:13 ), mercy( Romans 5:6-8 ), forgiveness( 1 John 1:9 ), and a grace that is sufficient( 2 Corinthians 12:9 ). Will you choose Him? Will you let Him set you free from the bonds of sin( John 8:36 ) ? I encourage you to do so. This is the single greatest choice you will ever make. It is a matter of life and death, life and death eternal( John 3:18 ). Don't wait, make the choice tonight( Matthew 24:36 ) !

Bless and Curse Not ( Romans 12:14 )

Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not.

Romans 12:14

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You know for me, before coming to know Jesus as Lord and Savior even though I knew this concept I found it hard. As humans we tend to want to return harm or show unkindness to those who are not nice to us, but instead as Christian we need to be extending Christian love to them. We need to show them the love of Christ. Think about friends none us deserved the love God shows us. None us deserved for Christ to go the cross on Calvary and die a sinner's death. Instead He did this out of pure love. You know last night I watched the movie Fireproof with my parents. In one scene there was a question brought up about how can someone continue to love someone over and over again constantly being rejected? This illustrates the true love of Jesus Christ. Despite how many people reject Him daily He still choose the cross.

When someone does you wrong instead of seeking to do them wrong, pray for them. Pray that God would touch their heart. Show them an act of kindness, who knows they may be having a bad day and your kind act could very well change their day and even their life. Like I've said before in my devotionals a living testimony by living the Word is the strongest way of sharing your faith. After all are we not to be both hearers and doers of the Word( James 1:22 ). The Word clearly states we are to do no evil to any man and that vengeance is not ours, but is the Lord's( Romans 12:17-21 ). Friends to be a light is to be something positive and showing kindness through blessing those who curse us would be living out the new commandment Jesus gave( John 13:34-35 ). So friends I encourage you, the next time you are treated wrong pray for that person and show them an act of kindness. Believe it or not,but that could very plant a seed in their life for them to come to Christ. The people of this world are watching us Christians waiting to see us make mistakes and waiting to see what we will do. Be willing to live the life you were made to live. Live one worthy of the calling( Ephesians 4:1 ) and do it proudly.

For anyone reading this tonight who has not accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and personal Savior I invite you to do so. Ask him into your hear and admit your a sinner in need of His forgiveness. Will you choose Him ? Will you let Him set you free from the bonds of sin( John 8:36 ) ? I encourage you to do so. This is the single greatest choice you will ever make. It is a matter of life and death, life and death eternal( John 3:18 ). Don't wait, make the choice tonight( Matthew 24:36 ) !

The Beginning of Knowledge..... ( Proverbs 1:7 )

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

Proverbs 1:7

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

On my first opportunity to teach Sunday school I used this verse among others, but this one really came to mind. Cause first of all the beginning of true knowledge comes out of reverence/respect for the Lord. That is what the word fear here means, it doesn't imply what most of us think when we hear the word fear. When you have this deep sense of reverence and respect for Him it is amazing how much knowledge is open to you. Remember God resist the proud, but gives grace to the humble( James 4:6 ). The humble are open and have the heart that He is looking for. Remember Jesus set the standard by living the life of a servant. Despite being the Son of God, He still was out serving the people and died for our sins. Before coming to the cross I thought I was smart. Man did God humble me and I thank Him for it. I never realized how proud a man I was. Sad thing is today's society is becoming more and more like this. They are wanting people to be proud in what they do and neglect what God has done. Now I'm not saying you can't give yourself a pat on the back here and there, but we ultimately need to give credit where credit is due. I know the very fact I am here today is because of God. I know the reason I am breathing is because of Him. Science may give me a million reasons, but I know it was God who spoke and this world came into existence( Genesis 1:1 ).

Often times I think we all can get wrapped up in what we have done, how many times do we sit back and show Him the respect that is due and say thank you. I'm not saying always ,but you ever wonder why some days seem so crazy and God seems so distant or maybe you can't seem to hear that silent still voice. Take time and see if you have allowed some pride to step in between you and God. If so I encourage you to pray and ask God to remove it. I promise nothing is too big for Him.

Don't let your past or not being perfect get in your way( Psalm 103:12, Romans 3:23 ). Instead cast yourself upon His mercy( Luke 18:13 ). Remember He is waiting on you with arms wide open( John 3:16 ). In those arms you will find love( John 15:13 ), mercy(Romans 5:6-8 ), forgiveness( 1 John 1:9 ), and a grace that is sufficient( 2 Corinthians 12:9 ).

Be Busy About The Father's Business ( Romans 12:11 )

Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord;

Romans 12:11

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I've heard some Christians say I want to do something for the Lord, but I'm not sure what. Ever heard that? The thing is there is something every Christian should be doing and that is being busy about the Father's business by sharing the gospel every chance we get. As it says in the first part of this verse not slothful in business. To be slothful is be lazy and lacking work. Another words a slothful person doesn't really get anything accomplished. What I don't understand is the same Christians who ask this question think being a minister, going on a mission trip, or serving in the church is the only ways to serve the Lord, but the truth of the matter is there are so many ways. The most effect way I've found and as simple as it sounds it speaks volumes and that is living a life according to the gospel( 1 Corinthians 9:14 ). Remember in the Sermon on the Mount Jesus spoke on how we are to be the light of the world( Matthew 5:16) and the salt( Matthew 5:13 ) of the earth. To be a light for the this world and its salt, is being a living testimony through your very actions in how you speak and act. Now I'm not saying that any of us will live perfect lives, but we should seek out to conform( Romans 12:2 ) ourselves to His image each and everyday. Friends I've had days where I've fell short of His glory( Romans 3:23 ),but praise God that His mercy is renewed daily( Lamentations 3:23 ).

So brothers and sisters in Christ I encourage you if you have become a little slothful lately get up you sleepers and be busy about the Father's business. This is a new year, full of opportunities to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with someone new. Don't be ashamed for there is nothing in the gospel to be ashamed of. Remember you have something to share with them that will determine where they spend eternity( John 14:6 ).

This is single greatest choice you will ever make. Rejoicing In Hope....( Romans 12:12 )

Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer;

Romans 12:12

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Three things we should do. One we should always be rejoicing in the blessed hope that we have in eternal life that is given to all those who are believers( John 3:16 ). The day you accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior you pass from death unto life( 1 John 3:14 ) , eternal life. What a joy it is to know that when life's journey on this earth ends that if you have chosen Jesus as Savior He will be waiting on you with arms wide open. I can only imagine how beautiful and joyful that day will be. Being in a land where there is no more pain and no mourning. In fact as Jesus described it there will be many mansions( John 14:2 ).

The next thing it lists is to be patient in tribulation. Through life we will endure times of trials and tribulations, but remember Jesus never promised an easy road( Matthew 7:13-14 ). He did however promised to be with us always. In fact in most cases these trials are used to strengthen us in our walk with the Lord.

Last it says continuing instant in prayer. What does mean? This means being in constant communication with the Father always. I think when people see prayer they think that means they have to close their eyes or seat themselves in a certain position. The truth of the matter is prayer is our direct connection to God. Now I'm not saying you shouldn't bow your head in reverence, cause God is due all reverence as He is worthy of it, but there are times when closing your eyes is not possible like when your driving. Friends what I'm saying is we should be in constant communication with God. Talk to Him like a friend. Tell Him about your day, tell Him about your concerns and troubles. Develop an intimate relationship with Him. By that I mean get to know Him by reading His Word and by opening yourself up to Him. Like I said tell Him everything about your day. Remember as it is written cast all your cares upon Him for He cares for you( 1 Peter 5:7 ). God cares so much for you that we barely even begin to comprehend with our finite minds. he depths of His love is just amazing. I know the night I gave my life to Him I was blown away by His amazing grace and how He looked upon my past sins with compassion and long suffering. The story that came to mind and always does is the story of the prodigal son( Luke 15:11-32 ). After all the things I'd done in my life God wanted me. He didn't need me,but He wanted me. So friends I urge and encourage you to be in constant prayer. Talk to Him, He's always there and always willing to listen. Best of all He has all the answers and can do anything.

For anyone reading this tonight who has not accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and personal Savior I invite you to do so. Ask Him into your heart and admit your sinner in need of His forgiveness. This is the greatest single choice you will ever make. It is a matter of life and death, life and death eternal( John 3:18 ). Don' t wait, make the choice tonight( Matthew 24:36 ) !

Try My Heart O LORD ( Psalm 26:2 )

Examine me, O LORD, and prove me; try my reins and my heart.

Psalm 26:2
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For forty years the Israelites wandered in the wilderness because of their disobedience and because God was trying the hearts of His people to see if they deserved to enter the land He promised their fathers( Deuteronomy 8:2 ). See we have no room to examine God as He is a holy, perfect and just god. On the other hand we are lacking perfection and do need need to be examined. Does this mean we are bad people? No, but until we reach heaven we will never be free of making mistakes or going a day without sinning. The sinning I'm referring to is not willful sin which as Christians we should not be doing( 1 Corinthians 9:14,Ephesians 4:1. ) Like I said we will make mistakes( Romans 3:23 ) we are humans, but still we need to be making an effort to conform our lives to be more like Christ everyday( Romans 12:1-2 ). You know each night when we go in prayer we should have God examine our hearts from today and see how we've been. Have we've been an example of Christ and been a light to this world ( Matthew 5:16 )or have we been just another face passing by ? Friends you don't have to do open air preaching or handing out gospel tracts to share the gospel. The strongest message is by living the life and by being a living testimony. Show this world that there are real Christian. Those who not only read the Word, but live it. So brothers and sisters in Christ I encourage you when you go in prayer to have God examine you and to try your heart. Let Him show you where you need to still grow and improve. Believe me we all have areas and the awesome thing is He will help us and be there every step of the way. Remember you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you( Philippians 4:13 ).

For anyone reading this tonight who has not accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and personal Savior I encourage you to do so. Don't Be Weary In Doing Good ( Galatians 6:9 )

And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.

Galatians 6:9

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I know sometimes doing right can get discouraging especially when people just don't seem grateful for your help. It can especially get hard when those who are doing wrong benefit and you never seem to prosper, but remember the bible is very clear that the wicked will be cast down( Psalm 75:10 ). Those who benefit in wrong doing only reap in success for just a season. Another thing to remember is we are not to envy those succeeding in their sin, but instead should be praying for them to repent of their sins. Another thing I thought of when reading this verse reminded me that we can do all things through Chris who strengthens us to continue doing good things( Philippians 4:13 ). I know in today's society it can get hard to continue doing what is right because we live in such a fallen world, but we must remember we are not of this world. We must remember we were bought with a price, a most precious price( 1 Corinthians 6:20 ) and have a worthy calling that we need to be doing every day we live.

Brothers and sisters in Christ be encouraged with the words the Apostle Paul wrote to Timothy, Fight the good fight, lay hold onto eternal life(1 Timothy 6:12 ). Friends we need to reach out to this world and share the gospel which has the power of salvation. Tell someone about Jesus Christ, the only name under heaven which a person can be saved by. Don't let these dreary and tough times get you down, instead let them motivate you to share the gospel more than you ever have.

In those arms you will find love( John 15:13 ), mercy( Romans 5:6-8 ), forgiveness( 1 John 1:9 ), and a grace that is sufficient ( 2 Corinthians 12:9 ). Will you choose Him? What Shall A Man Give In Trade For His Soul ? (Mark 8:35-37)

For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel's, the same shall save it.

For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?

Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

Mark 8:35-37

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What in this world has value? As it states cl clearly in the Word all things will pass, but the Word of God will remain forever( Isaiah 40:8 ). I know a lot of people would be confused and say I don't anyone who has exchanged their soul for the world. Well, I beg to differ and let me explain. People do this essentially by choosing this world instead of accepting Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. When they do this they condemn themselves( John 3:18 ) and unless before they die they repent of their ways and choose Jesus Christ as Savior they only have hell as their eternity. The bible is very clear that there is one way to heaven and that is through Jesus Christ( John 14:6 ). Notice in verse 35 it says whoever shall save his life shall lose it and whoever shall lose it for my name's and the gospel's sake shall find it. What Jesus is saying is those not willing to die for it, basically what I'd consider false Christians will lose it because truly they have not put their faith in Jesus hence they will spend eternity in hell. This conclusions I've come to by what the Word says, " No greater love than to lay down his life for his friends.( John 15:13 ) " Then on the other hand those(true believers) willing to lose their lives for His name and the gospel shall find life, eternity in heaven with Him.

The point of this life is not about us,but about Him. You know this world today has become so focused on the "ME" syndrome. It makes me so sick how people have forgotten to care about their fellow man. Brothers and sisters we need to reach out to this world and extend the love of Christ. Share the gospel and show them the truth which can set them free from the bonds of sin( John 8:32 ). You know for so long I was a slave to sin myself, but praise God that He released me. So friends I encourage to be willing to share the gospel even if cost your life, for as the Apostle Paul wrote , for me to live is Christ and my death a gain( Philippians 1:21 ).

Repent of your ways and find your identity in Jesus Christ ( 2 Corinthians 5:17 ). It is matter of life and death, life and death eternal( John 3:18 ). Don't wait, make the choice tonight( Matthew 24:36 )!

God's Word Will Remain Forever ( Isaiah 40:8 )

The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.

Isaiah 40:8

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You know I see how people cling to material items in society and it shocks me. They act as if when they die it goes with them. The truth of the matter is none of us brought nothing in this world and surely we will bring nothing out of this world ( 1 Timothy 6:7). When we pass on only our soul goes on to judgment( Hebrews 9:27 ). The prophet Isaiah puts it very clear here that the Word of God shall stand forever.Nothing else matters for without it, nothing else would exist.Jesus reminds the people of this by saying heaven and earth shall pass, but my Word shall not pass away( Luke 21:33 ). Once again stating all things shall pass, but the Word shall always be forever. Then I'm sure some lost people might say what about Jesus ? Well, remember Jesus is the Word made flesh( John 1:1-14 ).

You know for me the longer I walk with the Lord the less I desire to have the most updated things. Don't get me wrong it would nice to have some new stuff, but I find all satisfaction in God's Word and what He provides me. In fact last Christmas I got a laptop which I needed for school. I thank God cause He provided the money to be there for my parents to get it for me. Like I've stated before in my devotionals the Lord takes care of His own. David put it very well, he said I was young and now I'm old and never have I seen the righteous forsaken or his seed begging bread(Psalm 37:25 ). No matter how rough times get we just need to focus on God. Don't tell God how big your storm is, instead tell the storm how big God is.

Will you choose Him ? Will you let Him set you free from the bonds of sin( John 8:36 ) ? I encourage you to do so. This is the single greatest choice you will ever make. It is a matter of life and death, life and death eternal( John 3:18 ). Don't wait, make the choice tonight( Matthew 24:36 )!

The Lord Hears & Delivers The Righteous ( Psalm 34:17 )

The righteous cry, and the LORD heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles.

Psalms 34:17

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Like I've said many times, the book of Psalms is one of my favorite books in the Bible. In it covers a variety of emotions and topics. I love in this verse from the 34th psalm how it says that not only does He hear, but He delivers them out of all their troubles. Awesome isn't to know that God doesn't just rescue you from big troubles or major incidents, but all troubles. Now this doesn't mean we won't have to go through trials. It just simply means when we call on God when in trouble He will deliver us. See the difference between trouble and trial is that a trial is used for strengthening. Trouble on the other hand has no point, but just to tear us down and more than likely is danger and will likely cause us or others physical harm. Friends as I came across this verse tonight I thought man it is awesome to know we have the best 24 hour service ever. We never have to worry about it being down for maintenance, or getting a computer, or closed for weekends. In this reminds me of a lyrics from one of my favorite songs by Nicole C. Mullen. In the song " When I Call On Jesus" it call Him in the mornin',in the afternoon time, late in the evenin' He'll be there. I know that whenever I need to talk to God He is there. Regardless if it 3 in the morning or 12 noon, God always is there for me. Man I just can't emphasize this verse enough, but man when it says all troubles amen! I am so glad to know He is for me and if He is for me then who can be against me( Romans 8:31 ).

So brothers and sisters in Christ I encourage you whatever your going through big or small God is there with you. Pray for one another. I encourage you as we continue in this new year to continue reaching out to the lost. After all why should be ashamed of the gospel for in it is the power of salvation( Romans 1:16 ).

Will you let Him set you free from the bonds of sin( John 8:36 )? I encourage you to do so. This is the single greatest choice you will ever make. It is a matter of life and death, life and death eternal( John 3:18 ). Don't wait, make the choice tonight ( Matthew 24:36 ) !

Our Affliction Is For Only A Moment (2 Corinthians 4:17-18)

For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;

While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.

2 Corinthians 4:17-18

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You know these words after a long day are just the right words I need. It's a reminder that despite how rough or tough the day may have been through the attacks the enemy that the glory and riches waiting in heaven far out weigh the suffering. Awesome isn't to know that one sweet day all brothers and sisters in Christ will be spending eternity with our Lord and Savior in our home in heaven. I get excited thinking about what it will be like to see Jesus face to face. Then as He promised the streets of gold and the many mansions. No more pain, suffering, mourning, or foolish disbelief. Instead we be spending eternity praising God.

In verse 18 it talks about how we as Christians look not at things which are seen for they are temporal(temporary). Instead we focus on things which on not seen which are eternal, Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. He has always been and always will be. I heard in one of my classes last week someone ask if God created man, then who created God. Sadly I didn't get the opportunity to talk to her,but folks so many people in this world can't grasp that God is eternal. God has always existed and will always be regardless if they believe or not. What saddens my heart is if they choose not to believe they will end up in hell. I know some people would say you should put it that way . They would say I'm putting it harsh. The thing is, it is the truth. As it is written Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life and none may come to the Father except through me( John 14:6 ).

Friends I encourage you reach out to someone who doesn't know Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Be the person who plants that seed in their life. Don't be afraid to tell them cause you might offend them or it might not be the cool thing to do. Do it because it is the difference of where they will spend eternity. There are many ways to share your faith, but I've found the most profound and impacting way is to be a living testimony. Show this world what a real Christian is. Yes we makes mistakes( Romans 3:23 ),but its not about perfect its about conforming our lives( Romans 12:1-2 ) to being more like Christ everyday.

Praise The Lord All My Days ( Psalm 146:1-2 )

Praise ye the LORD. Praise the LORD, O my soul.

While I live will I praise the LORD: I will sing praises unto my God while I have any being.

Psalm 146:1-2

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The book of Psalms is one of my favorites as it covers so many emotions. From agony, confidences, praise, sorrow, and many others. Many of them written by David and from the context you can see that no matter what situation David was in he trusted God completely. I love in these two verse in the 146 psalm how David talks about praising the Lord as long as he lives. No matter what we go through in life we should praise God. For God is there both in times of pain and in joy.

I know people say how can I rejoice if I have lost someone to cancer. You can rejoice knowing they no longer suffer and are in better place where there are no disease, there is no grief, and no mourning. Remember as it is written all men are appointed one death and then on to judgment( Hebrews 9:27 ). The beautiful thing to know is once receiving Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior when you die, really life doesn't end, but it continues in our heavenly home.

Friends we have so much to praise God for another day to see those we love(family and friends), another sunrise, losing five pounds, a smile from your baby, or even finding a dollar bill. Those are just a few and I'm sure you could think of many more. I encourage you praise God all the days of your life. Praise Him in the sun and the storms of life.

Are You Thankful ? ( Hebrews 13:5-6 )

Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.

So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.

Hebrews 13:5-6
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The definition of covetousness is to excessively desire something that someone else has. Another words to not be satisfied. You know it never ceases to amaze me how people have to have the latest this and that despite how fine their current thing is. What really gets me is how people are always saying man I don't have this or why don't I have this? Another thing they may say is, if I had this life would be so much better or I could do much more. What so many people forget so often is the many blessings around them. When I got saved God opened my eyes and revealed just how blessed I am. He showed me how lucky I am to have parents who love me and support me, I'm alive and well, and everyday I continue to see new blessings. In fact for me I thanked God for a great blessing my grandmother being around another Christmas this past year. I know that it was because of God that she is here.

That is sometimes why I can gets sadden when I hear people talk about not getting the newest video game or shoe. They act like it is the end of the world. While they are so worried they won't get to play or be able to complete their outfit they are missing out on God's great blessings and gifts in life; family, friends, and little moments. Of course the greatest thing we can all always thank Him for is sending His son to die for us. Thanks to Jesus paying our debt on calvary we were able to receive eternal life through grace through faith( Ephesians 2:8-10 ). He didn't ask much, just believe( John 3:16 ), but I promise once you commit to Christ you will want to do more. Not because you have to,but because you will want to. One thing I've told people is I've found is the reason I want is this love I have for Him. I know love for He taught me love first when He showed His love towards me first.

In the sixth verse it talks about a boldness about not being afraid about what others will do to us. Another words we need not be afraid to what people will do to us for sharing the Word. Remember we have nothing to fear of those who can takes our lives, but instead need to fear them one who can kill both the body and soul in hell( Matthew 10:28 ). Friends don't let death or any other forms of intimidation scare you from sharing the Word. We are not to be lights under bushels, but instead held high proclaiming the good news of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and the gift of Salvation He has for all.

Study ( 2 Timothy 2:15 )

Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth

2 Timothy 2:15

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Brothers and sisters we need to be in God's Word on a daily basis. God has provided His Word to us as a weapon( Ephesians 6:17 ) against our enemy the devil. In addition it has the answer to any question you will ever have. Amazing how people are looking for answers in this world in so many areas from alcohol, drugs, and 1-800 numbers. When all they need to do is pick up God's Word and in there they would find their answers. The kids in the youth group I help with always look at me when it comes to bible trivia. They think I'm a genius. What I've told them is the more you read and the more you let God write on your heart the more you will remember. Remember God's Word should be in your heart. See that was the problem with the Pharisees and the Sadducees is they had the scriptures in their minds, but not in their hearts( Mark 7:6-7 ).

Friends I encourage you get in the Word. Study it , get in deep and to show yourself approved. You know I've found the more I read the more I want to read. I leave you with this brothers and sisters are you at thirst or hungering for God's Word?

For anyone reading this tonight who has not accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and personal Savior I invite you to do so. Ask Him into your heart and admit your sinner in need of His forgiveness. Be real with Him and cast all your worries, doubts, and fears at His feet, the feet of mercy for He cares for you( 1 Peter 5:7 ). Walk In The Spirit ( Galatians 5:16 )

This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.

Galatians 5:16

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The flesh represents the things of this world that are temporary and really have no meaning. In addition their works have no part in heaven, but instead in the lake of fire.( Galatians 5:21 ). I know people always ask how do I keep from sinning ? Well, this verse would be the best answer. I'm not saying you won't ever make a mistake. For we all make mistakes( Romans 3:23 ) and have days where we feel unworthy to be called one of His children, but remember if you ask for His forgiveness He is just to forgive you( 1 John 1:9 ). Another thing to consider is , it is one thing to make a mistake it is another thing to willfully sin( James 4:17 ). You know I've found it so amazing how God does direct the paths of His own as we walk in the Spirit. I've noticed it myself in how I speak and how I act. I in no way am saying I'm perfect, but can testify and say how different I am today from 2 years ago. Remember we are not going to be perfect this side of heaven, but we should make every effort to conform ourselves to His image( Romans 12:2 ). We should make it our purpose everyday to get up and be more like Him and live and act according to His Word( 1 Corinthians 9:14 ).

Brothers and sisters I encourage you to continue walking in the Spirit. As we continue in this new year keep reaching out to people and sharing the good news of Jesus Christ. This world we live in is hurting and in need of answers, and is crying out for the truth. Let us share the Truth and be the light( Matthew 5:16 ).

The Earth Is The LORD's ( Psalm 24:1-2 )

The earth is the LORD'S, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein.

For he hath founded it upon the seas, and established it upon the floods.

Psalm 24:1-2

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The first fiver words in the first verse sum things up very well everything is God's. After all He spoke and the world came into existence. You know mankind sure has gotten bold over the years trying to think they don't need God. You can see it in so many ways. From removing prayer in school to taking the Ten Commandments out of government places. The earth is the Lord's,but man is continuing to forget it's creator. Think about recently with all the going green ads. Amazing how hard they are working to save the earth, but none of them are caring about God who created them and the place they live.

It truly saddens me to think people forget about God or just deny Him. The thing is how can they deny Him when all of creation cries out to Him praising Him, from the trees extending their branches, the waves crashing on the shores to the birds chirping. Creation knows who created it and praises Him who is worthy of all praise. What really gets to me is how some people can't make it to church on Sundays because they have something else to do. Another words they are saying they don't have time for God. They are saying they don't have time for the God who gives them life through each breathe and sent His son to die for their sins and ask for them to only believe to receive eternal life( John 3:16 ). Yet they can't give Him an hour of their time on Sunday. I don't know about you,but I love going to church not because I have to,but cause I desire to. Part of being Christian is there should be a desire to fellowship with other brothers and sisters in Christ at church. In addition church is a time to praise God and to learn. So brothers and sisters I encourage you to continue to reach out this year. God can use you, just come to Him with a humble and willing spirit.

Instead cast yourself upon His mercy (Luke 18:13 ). Will you choose Him ? Will you let Him set you free from the bonds of sin( John 8:36 ) ? I encourage you to do so. This is the single greatest choice you will ever make. It is matter of life and death, life and death eternal( John 3:18 ). Don't wait, make the choice tonight( Matthew 24:36 ) !

True Peace ( John 14:27 )

Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

John 14:27

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Amen to this verse as said from Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. The peace He offers is as He said not like this world offers. The world always tries to offer peace, but always attaches strings. Truly this world can not offer the peace we need in the times we live in. I find that after a rough day that time with God either in prayer or in His Word is the best medicine. It's amazing the peace He provides. This peace speaks to the soul and calms like no other. What saddens my heart is how many times I see in the headlines how people are committing suicide. Those people are wanting to find peace and sadly think death is the way to find it. Brothers and sisters we need to reach out to this world with the Gospel. Tell them there is hope through the Saviour Jesus Christ. When I read this verse tonight I remembered how Jesus is called the prince of peace. So friends remember today is the beginning of 2009 and the beginning of a new year for God to use you to share the gospel to more people.

For anyone reading this tonight who not accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and personal Savior I invite you to do so. Ask Him into your heart and admit your a sinner in need of His forgiveness. Be real with Him and cast all your worries, doubts, and fears at His feet, the feet of mercy for He cares for you ( 1 Peter 5:7 ).
