Nothing Has Meaning Without Jesus Christ (Matthew 16:26)

For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

Matthew 16:26

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Friends there is nothing in this world that has value without Jesus Christ. You can have all the money in the world, but without Jesus Christ you have no hope of going to heaven. I know some might say John that is awful harsh, but I beg to differ I'm being honest. For Jesus said I am the way, the truth and the life and none may come to the Father except through me( John 14:6 ). Friends we can't sugar coat or water down the Word. Some people paint a picture of God as someone who loves everyone and won't send anyone to hell. I beg to differ. God does love everyone, but He is also a just God. So when it says in John 3:18, those who don't believe are already condemned, it means it. Friends you can't buy your way to heaven and you surely can not work your way into heaven, it is grace through faith in Jesus Christ( Ephesians 2:8-10 ).

You know the sad thing is people think hey I'm healthy, I've got a lot of money, have a great job, but if you ask them about Jesus they will say I don't need Him. Why do they say that? Cause things are going good so they figure they don't need Him. What they don't realize is we should praise Him always regardless of how their life is going. For He is worthy of all our praise and all of the glory. Those who are earthly rich sadly are examples of "rich rulers"( Luke 18:18-25 ). They don't understand while they may hold other moral laws that by making their material items more important than God they are committing idolatry and breaking God's first law( Exodus 20:3 ). So friends I encourage you to place God above all other things( Matthew 6:33 ). Remember all things shall pass, but His Word shall remain( Mark 13:31 ). I wish more people could see it like the Apostle Paul and saw things without Christ are like dung. ( Philippians 3:8 ).

For anyone reading this tonight who has not accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and personal savior I invite you to do so. Ask Him into your heart and admit your a sinner in need of His forgiveness. Be real with him and cast all your worries, doubts, and fears at His feet, the feet of mercy for He does care for you( 1 Peter 5:7 ).Repent of your old ways and find your identity in Jesus Christ( 2 Corinthians 5:17 ). Don't let your past or not being perfect get in the way( Psalm 103:12, Romans 3:23 ). Instead throw yourself upon His mercy( Luke 18:13 ). He is waiting with arms wide open( John 3:16 ). In those arms you will find love( John 15:13 ), mercy( Romans 5:6-8 ), forgiveness( 1 John 1:9 ), and a grace that is sufficient( 2 Corinthians 12:9 ). Will you choose Him? Will you let Him set you free from the bonds of sin( John 8:36 )? I encourage you to do so. This is the single greatest choice you will ever make. It is a matter of life and death, life and death eternally( John 3:18 ). Don't wait make the choice tonight( Matthew 24:36 )!

Serving Is Rewarding ( 1 Corinthians 9:19 )

For though I be free from all men, yet have I made myself servant unto all, that I might gain the more.

1 Corinthians 9:19

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Friends we have been made free through Christ, but still we should serve others. Now friends I don't mean doing what they say to,but instead reaching out to them . It says in the Word to give food to your enemy for in showing kindness it as tossing coals of fire on their head( Romans 12:20 ). What it is saying is defeating evil with good( Romans 12:21 ). Remember vengeance is not ours, but the Lord's.

Think about it Jesus did not come to be ministered to,but to minister to others( Matthew 20:28 ). Friends Jesus Christ is the standard for how we should live and act. I know some would think how is helping someone with their needs serving the Lord. It's about realizing it is not about you or them, but about doing everything for the glory of God( Colossians 3:23 ). Like I've said on many occasions being a living testimony speaks volumes. Friends if we wanna reach the lost we must not only preach the gospel, but we must live it as well( 1 Corinthians 9:14 ). Just as I was telling the kinds in the youth group at the church I attend we are called to preach the gospel, another words we are called to proclaim/share the good news. So friends I encourage to reach out to people and help them. I promise through showing them the gospel through living it you will reach people. People are looking for the truth, they are looking for something real. Live the truth,be willing to be a peculiar person( 1 Peter 2:9 ), stand out as man or woman who has a heart for the Lord. The reward I believe he was talking bout in the end of the verse is the joy of seeing others come to know Christ by living out the gospel.

For anyone reading this tonight who has not accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and personal savior I invite you to do so. Ask Him into your heart and admit your a sinner in need of His forgiveness. Cast all your worries, doubts, and fears at His feet, the feet of mercy for He does care for you( 1 Peter 5:7 ). Repent of your old ways and find your identity in Jesus Christ( 2 Corinthians 5:17 ). Don't let your past or not being perfect get in the way( Psalm 103:12, Romans 3:23 ). Instead throw yourself upon His mercy( Luke 18:13 ). He is waiting on you with arms wide open( John 3:16 ). Don't wait, make the choice tonight( Matthew 24:36 ) and become a new creation( 2 Corinthians 5:17 , Ephesians 4:22-24 )!

Fight The Good Fight ( 1 Timothy 6:12 )

Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.

1 Timothy 6:12

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I love this verse as it speaks to me as a kinda rally cry for Christians. Everyday we should be out fighting the good fight of faith. Now I know when most people hear the word fight they think of fist fights or those involving weapons like swords, guns or any other instruments of warfare. The thing is the good fight is holding true to living a life according to the gospel. Do you realize everyday when you wake and pray you are fighting the good fight or when treated harshly and you responded with kind words? Friends we don't have to go out and pick fights for the battle is already won. When Jesus went to calvary He won the war and declared it when He said it is done( John 19:30 ).

Friends when faced with a tough situation and all we do it cry out to Him in prayer and trust Him completely is yet another way to fight the good fight. Remember the battle is not our,but is the Lord's( 1 Samuel 17:46-47 ). Another part of fighting the good fight is sharing the gospel. Friends there are people who are lost and in darkness and without Jesus they have no hope. Another thing to remember is how did you come to know Jesus? Did someone tell you? I know someone told me and I am so very thankful for it. Truly telling someone about Jesus Christ is the greatest thing you can do. I know for me telling someone about what Jesus has done for me and what He can do for them makes me feel such joy. I love talking about Him. He is my joy,my contentment, my reason to live, He is my everything. In knowing He has freed me from the second death through His death on that old rugged tree encourages me to share the gospel even knowing the fact it could cost me my life. Despite that I'm come to understand the Christian conflict( Philippians 1:20-21 ). What I mean by conflict is any true believer if you ask them where they want to be would say heaven, but know now while living they can do so much for those here alive. Sure we want to go to heaven, but also we want more to know Jesus Christ as Lord and savior.

Friends once again I encourage you to fight the good fight, hold fast to the faith. The rewards far outweigh the trials and tribulations. For we have a crown of life awaiting us in glory, our home in heaven( James 1:12 ).

For anyone reading this tonight who has not accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and personal savior I invite you to do so. Ask Him into your heart and admit your a sinner in need of His forgiveness. Be real with Him and cast all your worries, doubts, and fears at His feet, the feet of mercy for He cares for you( 1 Peter 5:7 ). Repent of your old ways and find your identity in Jesus Christ( 2 Corinthians 5:17 ). Don't let your past or not being perfect get in the way( Psalm 103:12, Romans 3:23 ). Instead cast yourselves upon His mercy( Luke 18:13 ). He is waiting on you with arms wide open( John 3:16). In those arms you will find love( John 15:13 ), mercy( Romans 5:6-8 ), forgiveness( 1 John 1:9 ), and a grace that is sufficient( 2 Corinthians 12:9 ). Will you choose Him? Will you let Him free you from the bonds of sin( John 8:36 )? I encourage you to do so. This is the single greatest choice you will ever make. It is truly a matter of life and death, life and death eternally( John 3:18 ). Don't wait, make the choice tonight( Matthew 24:36 )!

Wait Patiently ( Psalm 40:1 )

I waited patiently for the LORD; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry.

Psalm 40:1

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Be patient and wait on the Lord for He is faithful to answer and deliver. I know waiting is not easy to do. As you can see today's society isn't a very patient society. You can see this through automated check out in stores, 1 hour photo and of course fast food. There are other examples, but you see my point no more are people willing to wait on things for very long. Sadly this trend has come upon people's prayer lives. They go in prayer to the Lord and just because they don't see an answer to their prayers instantly they think He didn't hear them.

Friends the truth is the Lord hears everyone of our prayers. The thing is our idea of Him answering versus how He answers them is really where the issue is. Just because we don't see the effect immediately doesn't mean we should lose hope. Like the verse says patiently wait for the Lord. Friends I've been praying for quite a while to find a girl that I can begin dating with the ultimate goal of it leading to the altar. Yet despite the fact I haven't began dating much less even talking to someone ,but still I trust the Lord. I know that right now He is continuing to bless me in my single life by preparing me. After all it does say in the Word that we are to trust in the Lord completely and not rely on our own understanding( Proverbs 3:5 ). That doesn't mean we are to be absent minded, but instead not worry how things will work out and just trust Him completely.

Friends I've seen things in my life and in my walk with Christ where He is preparing me for my future as one day a husband and father. One thing I always think of how He has shown me how to love. Through His Word He has shown me true love. Through it He has shown me what love really is. It is more than a four letter word, it is so much deeper. The apostle John said it well, to not just love in word, but in deed and in truth( 1 John 3:18 ). Like I have told the kids in the youth group I help with many times that I know love cause I was loved first. Through understanding the love God showed me, I've learned how to love others and one sweet day I will have the opportunity to share with a spouse.

So friends I encourage you to wait on the Lord patiently. I know sometimes it may seem like forever, but just hold on cause He is faithful( Hebrews 10:23 ). I promise if you wait on Him you will receive the blessings He has for you. Remember He knows the plans He has for you and those are prosperous( Jeremiah 29:11 ). Sure we may have trials to go through, but through them we will come out a better person( James 1:2-4 ).

For anyone reading this tonight who has not accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and personal savior I invite you to do so. Ask Him into your heart and admit your a sinner in need of His forgiveness. Be real with Him ad cast all your worries, doubts, and fears at His feet, the feet of mercy for He does care for you( 1 Peter 5:7 ). Repent of your old ways and instead find your identity in Jesus Christ( 2 Corinthians 5:17 ). Don't let your past or not being perfect get in the way( Psalm 103:12, Romans 3:23 ). He is patiently waiting on you with arms wide open( John 3:16 ). Don't wait, make the choice tonight( Matthew 24:36 )!

The True Family ( Matthew 12:50 )

For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.

Matthew 12:50

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here Christ was showing the body of Christ as a family. Those who are part of the family are those who do the will of the Father. That is one thing that does bother me today is sadly instead of people identifying themselves as brothers and sisters in Christ they identify themselves as by their denominations. Friends we need to identify ourselves with Christ. I read no where in the bible where it says to be a this or that denomination. Instead it emphasizes how we are a body of believers( 1 Corinthians 12:12, Ephesians 4:4 ). In fact when Paul wrote to the church in Corinth in his first letter he emphasized there should be no division( 1 Corinthians 12:25 ). Friends as many body parts work together for the whole so should we as the body of Christ.

I remember talking to a friend once in an instant message window and despite we are both Christians he called me by denomination. I asked him why he didn't call me brother. All he could say is because where I go to church. That right there made something clear to me. There are folks going to church and base that single fact that they are a Christian. Being a Christian so much more. It is about having a relationship with God. Jesus said this so clearly in Mark when talked to the pharisees how they honor God with their lips, but their hearts were far from Him. What Jesus was getting across is we need to have a deep relationship with God. The pharisees knew the Word of God,but they never let it sink into their hearts. So friends remember those who are believers are your brothers and sisters. For anyone who does the will of the Father is part of the family.

Repent of your old ways and instead find your identity in Jesus Christ( 2 Corinthians 5:17 ). Don't let your past or not being perfect get in the way( Psalm 103:12, Romans 3:23 ). Instead bring yourself before His mercy( Luke 18:13 ). He is waiting on you with arms wide open( John 3:16 ). In those arms you will find love( John 15:13 ), mercy( Romans 5:6-8 ), forgiveness( 1 John 1:9 ), and a grace that is sufficient( 2 Corinthians 12:9 ). Will you choose Him? Will you let Him set you free from the bonds of sin( John 8:36 ) ?I encourage you to do so. This is the single greatest choice you will ever make. It is a matter of life and death, life and death eternally( John 3:18 ). Don't wait make the choice tonight( Matthew 24:36 ) !

Money Can't Save You! (Proverbs 11:4 )

Riches profit not in the day of wrath: but righteousness delivereth from death.

Proverbs 11:4

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Friends today we truly live in a materialistic society. Think about everyone has got to have the latest thing whether it be a shoe, a new shirt to even the latest video game system. Face it today people's value is sadly dependent on what they have. Friends it breaks my heart cause it's like the whole world bought into Madonna's material girl song. I remember hearing that song when I was younger and thought nothing of it. Now as I reflect and look at society it is sick, but that song speaks volumes about America today. What people don't realize is all the money in the world, all the material items they have don't mean anything without Jesus Christ in their life.

When thinking of this verse I immediately think of the young rich ruler who asked Jesus about eternal life( Luke 18:18 ). He had kept most of the commandments since his youth, but when Jesus explain to him what he need he walked away sadly( Luke 18:20-23 ). The problem was for him, was that his money and material items had become his god. Sadly this is the same for a lot of people today, they put other things in their life above God and that is idolatry. Remember we are to not put anything above God, nothing( Exodus 20:3 )! Friends on the day of judgment it won't matter what we if we don't have Jesus as our Lord and Savior. When judgment comes you will hear one of two things, either He will say well done thy faithful servant( Matthew 25:23 ) or He will say depart from me for I never knew thee( Matthew 7:23 ). Friends I encourage to put God first in your life( Matthew 6:33 ). Seek Him and love Him with all your heart and all your strength with all your soul( Deuteronomy 4:29, Deuteronomy 6:5 ).

For anyone reading this tonight who has not accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and personal savior I invite you to do so. Ask Him into your heart and admit your a sinner in need of His forgiveness. Be real with Him and cast all your worries, doubts, and fears at His feet, the feet of mercy for He does care for you( 1 Peter 5:7 ). Repent of your old ways and instead find your identity in Jesus Christ( 2 Corinthians 5:17 ). Don't your past or not being perfect get in the way( Psalm 103:12, Romans 3:23 ). He is waiting for you patiently with arms wide open( John 3:16 ). How Far Is East To West ? --> John 3:16 ( Psalm 103:12 )

As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.

Psalm 103:12

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Friends, brothers and sisters so many times the devil will use things in our past to destroy us. Don't let him steal your joy, don't let him steal anymore( Ephesians 4:28 ). As it says in this verse so clearly that our transgressions, our sins have been cast as far as the east is from the west. So what does it mean that they are removed from us as far is the east to the west, it is pointing to the cross( John 3:16 ). For on the cross we were redeemed by the blood of Jesus Christ and on that day we were reconciled to God( Romans 5:9-10 ).

Thinking about the cross reminds me of a song that I'm listening to now, "Take You Back" by Jeremy Camp. In the opening verse it says, " the reason why I stand the answer lies in, you hung to make me strong( John 3:16, Philippians 4:13 )." Friends I know the very fact that because of what He did is the very reason I can find joy in trials and tribulations. Like it says in the song I found strength not from me,but from Him. The only reason I can find joy and peace is because of Him. Another thing I think of how the love He showed us all on calvary is a reminder of how love made history. That truly good overcame evil( Romans 12:21 ). Friends the next time the devil tries to use your past against you remind him that you are not the "old man", but are a new creation through your Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ( Romans 6:10-11 ).

Don't let your past or not being perfect get in the way( Psalm 103:12, Romans 3:23 ). Instead throw yourself upon His mercy( Luke 18:13 ). He is waiting on you with arms wide open( John 3:16 ). In those arms you will find love( John 15:13 ), mercy ( Romans 5:6-8 ), forgiveness( 1 John 1:9 ), and a grace that is sufficient( 2 Corinthians 12:9 ). Will you choose Him ? Will you let Him set you free from the bonds of sin( John 8:36 ) ? I encourage you to do so. This is the single greatest choice you will ever make. It is a matter of life and death( John 3:18 ). Don't wait make the choice tonight( Matthew 24:36 )!

Tomorrow Isn't Promised ( James 4:14 )

Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.

James 4:14

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Friends we never know what tomorrow holds. This very fact reminds me that waiting to share the gospel with someone makes no sense. Think about it you may never get to see that person again. Then if they haven't chosen Jesus Christ as their savior well you know where they will go. For Jesus said , " I am the way, the truth, and the life, and none may come to the Father except through me( John 14:6 )."Friends for me this weighs on my mind and encourages me to be willing to share to all who will listen. Sure not everyone you will tell will listen or choose Him, but friends at least you shared. For the Word tells that straight is the gate and narrow is the way and few will find it( Matthew 7:14 ). God has not ordained us to determine how many will accept or pick and choose who we ask, all He asks is for us to share the gospel to all. Friends think about it, like I've said many times there is nothing to be ashamed of in the gospel. Another thing to consider is why not tell someone, didn't someone share it with you. I can't say it enough, but I am so thankful someone was willing to tell me about it.

Remember friends Jesus could return at anytime to take us home, why wait to tell someone about Him. From what we know about the tribulation period through scripture it is not going to be a good time to be around. With that in mind how could you want someone to endure that? Friends as Christians we should have such compassion in our lives for the lost that we share the gospel as much as possible. Don't wait tell someone, there are many who are sick with the disease of sin and need the cure, Jesus Christ.

For anyone reading this tonight who has not accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and personal savior I invite you to do so. Ask Him into your heart and admit your a sinner in need of His forgiveness. Be real with Him and cast all your worries, doubts, and fears at His feet, the feet of mercy( 1 Peter 5:7 ). Repent of your old ways and instead find your identity in Jesus Christ( 2 Corinthians 5:17 ). Don't let your past or not being perfect get in the way( Psalm 103:12, Romans 3:23 ). Will you let Him set you free from the bonds of sin( John 8:36 )? I encourage you to do so. This is the single greatest choice you will make. It is a matter of life and death( John 3:18 ). Don't wait , make the choice tonight( Matthew 24:36 )!

Are You Walking The Walk You Talk About?(1 Corinthians 9:14)

Even so hath the Lord ordained that they which preach the gospel should live of the gospel.

1 Corinthians 9:14

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ever heard the saying you talk the talk, now can you walk the walk. This is exactly what this verse is saying if you preach the gospel, then you should live what you speak. Friends as Christians we are all called to preach the gospel, in other words proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ( Mark 16:15 ). I know when people hear the word preach they immediately think of the pastor on sunday morning, but friends as Christians we should be sharing the gospel with all who will listen. Friends I'm thankful that someone was willing to share the good news with me.Truly this friend of mine who shared the gospel was not just a hearer, but a doer of the Word as well( James 1:22 ).

I know some may say well I don't know how. Friends take it like this when you get a good grade on a test do you keep that to yourself or do you tell all who will listen? The same goes for the gospel. It is full of wonderful news. It talks about our redemption through Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. Now I know you may come across those who mock you or plainly don't listen. Friends as sad as this may sound the bible also tells of times and people such as this. In the last days people will mock you and even rejected the gospel ( 2 Peter 3:3, 2 Timothy 3:1-5 ).

Friends a huge problem for why people don't choose Christ is sadly that there are those claiming to be Christians, but their lives don't reflect what their lips are saying. Be different( 1 Peter 2:9 ), be real with your relationship to Christ. Don't just talk about Him, but live a life according to the gospel. Friends a living testimony is a powerful thing. Think about the first Christian martyr Stephen, think how his living testimony planted a seed in the life of Saul who later became Paul. I truly believe him living his faith even unto death touched the Saul(Paul).

He is patiently waiting on you with arms wide open( John 3:16 ). This is the single greatest choice you will make. It is a matter of life and death( John 3:18 ). Don't wait, make the choice tonight( Matthew 24:36 )!

Do You Have A Relationship With God?( Isaish 29:13 )

Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men:

Isaiah 29:13

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Lord desire those who love Him with all their hearts and all their strength. To honor the Lord with your lips and not live it, is like driving the nails back in His hands. Jesus spoke this very verse to the pharisees( Mark 7:6-7 ). He was trying to show them that their religion was vain and that they needed a relationship with God. Friends, God's Word should be both on our lips and in our hearts. Think about it the pharisees knew the scripture because they memorize them, but yet when the Messiah was in front of them they didn't know it. Why? For one simple truth they had the scriptures in their mind and not in their hearts. They didn't have a relationship with God, they had religion.

In religion there is not love, but steps, rituals, and practices. In a relationship there is love and commitment. The apostle Paul wrote to the church in Corinth about love, true love. You could give a lot of money to the poor or done other things, but without love it doesn't matter( 1 Corinthians 13:3 ). The Lord doesn't want robots, He wants willing, obedient people. He desires to have a relationship with us. He desired it so much that He sent His only son to die for us( John 3:16 ). Remember love covers many sins( 1 Peter 4:8 ), its true love that looks beyond who someone is and sees who they will be( Romans 5:8 ).

Friends I encourage you to deepen your relationship with God. Trust me friends His love runs so deep and the more I read about Him the more I want to know.

For anyone reading this today who has not accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and personal savior I invite you to do so. He is patiently waiting on you with arms wide open( John 3:16 ). This is the single greatest decision you will make. It is a matter of life and death( John 3:18 ).
Don't wait, make the choice today( Matthew 24:36 )!

God bless,
John W.
