Serving Is Rewarding ( 1 Corinthians 9:19 )

For though I be free from all men, yet have I made myself servant unto all, that I might gain the more.

1 Corinthians 9:19

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Friends we have been made free through Christ, but still we should serve others. Now friends I don't mean doing what they say to,but instead reaching out to them . It says in the Word to give food to your enemy for in showing kindness it as tossing coals of fire on their head( Romans 12:20 ). What it is saying is defeating evil with good( Romans 12:21 ). Remember vengeance is not ours, but the Lord's.

Think about it Jesus did not come to be ministered to,but to minister to others( Matthew 20:28 ). Friends Jesus Christ is the standard for how we should live and act. I know some would think how is helping someone with their needs serving the Lord. It's about realizing it is not about you or them, but about doing everything for the glory of God( Colossians 3:23 ). Like I've said on many occasions being a living testimony speaks volumes. Friends if we wanna reach the lost we must not only preach the gospel, but we must live it as well( 1 Corinthians 9:14 ). Just as I was telling the kinds in the youth group at the church I attend we are called to preach the gospel, another words we are called to proclaim/share the good news. So friends I encourage to reach out to people and help them. I promise through showing them the gospel through living it you will reach people. People are looking for the truth, they are looking for something real. Live the truth,be willing to be a peculiar person( 1 Peter 2:9 ), stand out as man or woman who has a heart for the Lord. The reward I believe he was talking bout in the end of the verse is the joy of seeing others come to know Christ by living out the gospel.

For anyone reading this tonight who has not accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and personal savior I invite you to do so. Ask Him into your heart and admit your a sinner in need of His forgiveness. Cast all your worries, doubts, and fears at His feet, the feet of mercy for He does care for you( 1 Peter 5:7 ). Repent of your old ways and find your identity in Jesus Christ( 2 Corinthians 5:17 ). Don't let your past or not being perfect get in the way( Psalm 103:12, Romans 3:23 ). Instead throw yourself upon His mercy( Luke 18:13 ). He is waiting on you with arms wide open( John 3:16 ). In those arms you will find love( John 15:13 ), mercy( Romans 5:6-8 ), forgiveness( 1 John 1:9 ), and a grace that is sufficient( 2 Corinthians 12:9 ). Will you choose Him? Will you let Him set you free from the bonds of sin( John 8:36 )? I encourage you to do so. This is the single greatest choice you will ever make. It is a matter of life and death, life and death eternally( John 3:18 ). Don't wait, make the choice tonight( Matthew 24:36 ) and become a new creation( 2 Corinthians 5:17 , Ephesians 4:22-24 )!

God bless,
John W. Whybrew III <><
